Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

The culture is ruined

Mental health is priceless and the stress here is huge so I'm looking forward to leaving. The culture that used to be and the culture here now - are they even comparable?
It seems to me that this is now just a shadow of the place it used to be.

No, no, they finally admitted it was all about the real estate investment.

What?! You mean forcing people (including many who hadn't had to come into the office for years prior to Covid) to drive in to not talk to anyone and sit on Zoom calls all day hasn't improved the culture? I thought that's why they were giving us that great "opportunity" to connect and collaborate.

Need days off for my mental health. No one over 40 even knows what that means. How did the youth become so soft? It’s work get up and go to work snowflake.

Same. Laying in bed not wanting to get up for another dynamic day. I know I need days off for my mental health but don’t want to deal with the BS.

Hate to tell you but this is work. Fidelity is a great place to work compared to most. You really just need to grow up and do your job.

@8ciz+1ncYiDir Turn for the worse is right. Especially now it’s all about Diversity, Inclusion, Equity. Which DIE, will surely ki-l the business, just as the acronym suggests.

glad I left there when I did. Sounds like it took a turn for the worse.

Wow sounds horrible, especially when they hire check the box applicants versus talent. No wonder so many people in HR left, they could see the future ramifications and wanted no part of it.

@1qmc+1ncYiDir 10-20 years ago it was fun to come to work, do your job, feel good about how you’ve helped clients find solutions they were looking for. Still made the company massive amounts of money. Work overtime if needed and not feel over burdened. Now it’s all about “what have you done for me lately.” And more people burned out in record numbers. No wonder no one wants to go back into the office.

If the snacks make you fa-t, then don't eat the snacks. Unless you enjoy a good toot.

All the cool and fun sh-t happened 10-20 years ago. Now the company is stuck on the perpetual DEI HR treadmill. No fun is allowed because fun leads to lawsuits. It's probably like this at any large corporation

Not even close. The stress of finding clean conference room friends during these connect weeks is a challenge. We are literally pulling out each others hair and always screaming. Thankfully we have our college group that knows how to relieve stress. It's just really messy and I feel bad for the janitors.

The snacks offered are all highly processed cr-p that give me farts. No shares lately.
