Schwab doesn't do any commercial lending, though. What would their incentive be...? In fact, if you're thinking about their business interests, I would think it might even benefit Schwab if some of our competitor banks failed due to this commercial real estate issue.

I am the only one from my team going into the office everyone is remote and spread all over the country across multiple time zones. I am not sure what is reasoning behind make me go to the office. It is a 45 minute commute each way and I am on Teams Meetings all day. I don't know anyone at the office location and do not interact with anyone in the office for my day to day work. The only time I have been to the office was to get my badge and pick up a backup laptop. Feels like such a waste of time.

Great video. Great insight. My eyes are open and I will be getting ready for another real estate crash 😔

I'm mostly neutral on RTO. I would much rather WFH because of the numerous benefits but it's not a deal breaker for me.

What is a deal breaker for me is how things are communicated. @1pwb+1ouLV0Xv you hit the nail on the head. They repeated the exact same message, like verbatim, as other companies reportedly said. You don't get any more disingenuous than that. On top of that, there was zero indication as to how many will be laid off and we were told way in advance. This is a horrible situation for people that want to stay at the company. (Yes, I want to stay and I am lucky enough to have a great team and management chain)

Honestly, if Schwab would have been honest about real estate or whatever other legitimate reason they had, I would have volunteered to RTO with a hybrid model. Not because of company loyalty but respect for the honesty and transparency.

100% and if they were/are transparent, would make RTO more tolerable perhaps - could find more innovative ways of allowing flexibility while bringing a greater number of folks back to the office IMO, rather than the BS “culture” cr*p that just makes everyone angry.
