Is this happening tomorrow or not?!?

They will have a subject line seen receipt. That subject line is considered sufficient notification, and satisfies WARN. Some say it ain't WARM. and maybe downright COLD.
If I get that email I'm immediately reporting it as a phishing attempt and not reading it. Can't fire me if I don't read the email.
@1poi+1p7kxpPF
I think that post is "fur reels".
Saw this another thread. Not sure if it's right
"Ok, got from multiple reliable sources that it will be tomorrow, 10/18, Wednesday. This is for real this time. Take it or leave it."
How would an email layoff work? BCC all impacted with a single email? Sounds challenging.
@1kif+1p7kxpPF Terminated contracts and employees who got fed up and quit.
I think it’s going to be a Halloween bloodbath. Tuesday 10/31st. All speculation.
Every Tuesday we are just getting mentally tortured.
So in our office building I connect and made friends with Security. They told me that they usually find out a day before the layoffs. And that makes sense since they have to be on the alert in case an employee does not take the news well and we’ll you know.
I know most of us are working from home but some do report to the office, therefore they would know.
It is not today because my contact would have already let me know.
If you have a good relationship with your office security they may be able to keep you posted.
I guess 1 day advance notice is better than none?
I have been wondering if it will be via email too, and that is why we haven’t had leaks from PLs. The big tech companies (Meta, Indeed, Google, etc) did their layoffs via email.
Could it happen via email? Seems to be a recent trend.

Late October
If the $500 million doesn’t come from layoffs, then where will it come from?
@ete+1p7kxpPFB What you said is very true. But if it is going down tomorrow we should’ve heard something by now, whether in office or at here. Unless they are doing the layoff in a very modularized manner, like 5-10 people per day.
Why do we think it is NOT happening tomorrow? I always figured it would be a rolling thing. Each org, depending on real estate location, would have their own timelines. I would make sense to not rush to do a big bang, just for the sake of it.
Likely not. The biggest clue from the earnings call was when Rick said costs from the positions elimination could bleed into 2024. That makes the 60 days before the last pay period in 2023 an irrelevant deadline. I was praying to get this all over with this week to know where we stand, but it probably won't happen until November like others have been saying.
@efp+1p7kxpPF
Hard for them to go quiet when they weren’t saying anything to begin with.
Expedia had some layoffs today so maybe it’s the week across companies!
100% happening tomorrow. Have you noticed how managers, directors, and HR went quiet?
Happy Halloween-Trick-or-Treat
So this could be completely unrelated...but why would the 401k site stop working to allow loans? Could this be related to layoffs?
@yfx+1p7kxpPF again, you are using logic..
trying to make sense of the decision will only lead to frustration like most folks are feeling today after thinking tomorrow was it.
Dont base your reasoning off a single event. Be it the engagement survey, Advisor Services IMPACT conference, the transition, etc. it is going to happen and everyone is going to wonder why the he-l that day was picked.
the only thing really driving the date is having it done before the start of 2024. And if you go by the WARN act, which says employees need to be notified 60 days before their role is eliminated (a lot of posts have dug deeper into this) then the absolute last possible day they can do it to get it under the 2023 budget (like they said in every communication so far) is the start of november.
seems you would not want to disrupt things with org changes just before TG4. and you probably would want things to settle after TG4 before introducing org changes. Management is vested in the TG's going smoothly. I'd guess November 13 or November 27.
If it hasnt flooded out by now that its happening tomorrow, it isnt happening tomorrow. They get leaked before they happen because certain PL's get notified they have an impacted employee, and from there it spreads.
honestly this week is looking less likely too... as an original firm believer of 10/17, we were wrong..
Early to mid Nov
No
yea the HR folks who got training friday was for open enrollment. they were being all secretive and sneaky about it acting like it was super serious and its just answering questions about benefits.
As expected, the earnings call told us nothing. So we still don’t know.
Yes and no.
