Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford is set to loose $4.5 billions on EVs for 2023

This company is planning for bankruptcy for sure. I planned to sell all of my Ford stocks.

Buy American?

I don't want a Mexican or Brazilian designed/built car, thanks.

Ford is no longer an American company.

If you think the money you pay for a new Ford stays here, think about where the money now goes for salaried engineering.
It now goes to Brazil, Mexico, India, and China.

So don’t feel bad for buying Toyota or another brand.

Fact of life,

It is people like you that have allowed offshoring & foreign companies to take over.

Buy American!

Note to @1xwj

That money from the Chinese Lincoln goes to China, meaning the joint venture partner in China. To do business in China you are required to partner with a company there. And the companies are owned by the communist govt.

So I’d rather buy a Camry from Toyota, as Japan is our partner along with Australia and South Korea and others in SE Asia in our efforts to corral Chinese Communists from expanding their power and harassing free countries such as Taiwan and Phillipines.

Strange as it seems, Japan and the others will be our partners come wartime with China over Taiwan and the world semiconductor chip supply (Taiwan Semiconductor company TSmC)

You’ll note Biden’s trip to Vietnam recently, in an effort to include them in the battle against China. One can disagree with so many of Biden admin policies, but regarding this topic he has done a good job rallying allies in the coming (cold and hot) war against China expansion and threats to freedom.

I worked hard for my money. I will spend my money on good quality products.

Why waste your money on poor quality and junk products. Only stupid people are supporting poor quality products.

I would never buy a Camry. I don't care if it's made in Kentucky or wherever. That money goes back to Japan.

I'd sooner buy a Lincoln made by Chinese workers because the money goes to Ford.

If you all don't understand the need to 'buy American', then that's just sad.

I don't own a single thing that wasn't made by an American company. No tv or electronics. No cell phone. I sew my own clothes.

Buy American, yeah!!

So you support all the foreign companies coming in? Even if they hide american workers - and still send profits back to Japan, etc.?

That's right. Buy American made

That's why I bought Toyota. It has more % of American made components than a Ford.

For is so far behind their competitors when it comes to Hybrids. Toyota is leading the game with top quality and fuel economy.

I got rid of my Ford Exploder and bought a Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2 months ago. What a night and day difference in quality, performance, MPG. I am a lot happier with my Toyota Hybrid.

Who is the clown saying higher EVs will make profit. Horse sh-t. Battery prices will not scale to lower cost not with the CCP controlling the vast majority of the metals.

Why does everybody think the feds will bail out GM, Ford or anybody in the car business? We are in a new environment where costs of ownership and entry are growing to the point that many people won't be able to buy a car. A long haul truck (diesel vs EV) double the cost. That said, the industry has over capacity by many measures and one way to fix that is just let the market decide. Ten years ago - different world.

With more BEV volume, this issue goes away. That is why Ford leadership is pushing for the new BEV manufacturing plants and focusing on BEV rather than legacy ICE vehicles.

If you own a company and knowing you will loose billions each year. I think the answer is very clear that you will be out of business soon.

Ford makes EVs that no one's wants to buy. They make vehicles that comes with recalls and poor quality. This is why they will be in bankruptcy soon.
