Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Is there anyone who is happy with their job at SF?

I can no longer believe that this used to be a good place to work. I know that there is no ideal company, but here it seems to me that no one is satisfied with their job and this company anymore? Maybe just the ones at the top? Even my manager looks like he might give notice soon.

I would tell any 20-year-old to hold onto a job with a pension like grim death, because when you retire you will be loving that pension check rolling in. Don't cash it in. Collect it. Best job ever (and I've had a few) and retired from SF. 35 to 40 years goes much more quickly than you think.

@1ang+1d6XGBl2 As someone who grew up in an endless crime neighborhood everyone has a price. I’ve never met someone with morals in my past life, or at my local church.

You’re thinking of hippies, I’ve met quite a few and that mindset just plays yourself in the long run. I think we can honestly say in most areas, pay, and respect is highly lacking. If I felt like I was compensated fairly for what I deal with I wouldn’t have found this grunge boomer site.

Anyone who disagrees with this simply isn’t human, or have the same emotions towards life as the majority of homosapians. Actions speak louder than words.

Proximity rocking? You must be in East bumfck not getting claims. Most field reps are slammed especially since the great purge. Understaffed and overworked. Truly remarkable at micromanagement.

Go fire proximity, that’s where claims get fun. It’s like people watching but with a check book.

Couldn’t imagine in-office, I’ve been field 20 years, honestly my TM blunts us from the majority of the non-important coming out of Mecca.

Anybody who is suggesting that people get out of claims doesn’t understand that it is virtually impossible to get out unless you leave the company. It is outrageous that the leadership would willingly destroy the workforce that is supposed to deliver on the policy

I too, am not in claims but I love my job. It is interesting and challenging. My leadership treats me well.

Yes, I really like what I do, and so does my entire team, but we are not in claims. Almost all of the people on this site are in claims and the call center. Sounds bad there.

But there are many who still work in really good places in the company. They tend to be the professional/corporate jobs vs the “production” jobs (claims, call center, operations).

Investments, Law, Technology, Digital, Strategic Consulting, Enterprise Research, Data and Analytics, PCUS, Agency, Claims business dept, all of these departments are really good places to work.

Get out of claims if you can.

I got the biggest monetary bonus of my career last year and likely an even bigger one in March of 22 but money is not what makes most employees happy or loyal. Money is the means to an end in a job, careers are built with mutual respect and right now this company does not respect its employees.

@1vbp That wasn't the question that was asked. Do you actually know how your employees feel about working for your agency? Money is nice, but it's not everything. Your staff represent your agency's brand. Do you actually ask and consider their input?

See, that is what you do not understand. I built the business, i can run it as I see fit within the guidelines of my contract obviously. I pay my team very well, fund their retirements, heck I gave two team members the down payments for their first homes this year. I am not saying they would not leave but they are pretty loyal and realize part of the job is dealing with the cr-p I no longer want to deal with.

I recently quit after 20 some years. I can honestly say when I started, State Farm was top notch. They valued employees, work/life balance was a BIG thing, and our customers were treated the way a customer should be treated paying our premiums. Less stress. You worked hard and could actually get promoted. Like everything else things change, even when nothing seems broken. Unfortunately, the changes being made are ruining who we are and definitely who we were. Sad to see. I’m hoping Rivian steps up and saves this town!!!

I am incredibly happy with my job. I have complete control of the company, my pay increased substantially in 2020, and my underlings admire me. I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would dislike working at State Farm.
