The thread said could be 5/2 or 5/3. Today on 5/2 I went to office and it's pretty calm. Will see what is going to happen tomorrow.
Regarding "managers have already provided the lists of people to be RIF'ed" statement, can anyone confirm if it is true?
Apparently, the RIF WILL still happen, no matter the hack incident as managers have already provided the lists of people to be RIF'ed whenever that's coming. While it was anticipated that it might happen on 5/3, it seems a bit coincidental to have a scheduled Flash all-hands planned on the same ay at 9AM ET. So, now the possibility opens up of a 5/4 date(?); we will have to wait and see, and yes, apparently it's going to be 10%++.
The WARN report isn't really helpful. When WD/HGST/IBM let people go, they file the notice. As long as they pay them for 60 days, it is perfectly legal. It doesn't matter if they functionally end your employment right way or a month later. As long as you are on payroll for 60 more days, it complies with the law.
Today is 5/1 but I don't feel there was any sign of upcoming RIF. My manager didn't seem to receive any info relate to RIF. I assume HR might drop the original RIF plan due to security incident. Still have one week to go though.
It depends on the law at the local site.
There are countries that they must give you a few weeks notice.
At US, you are being escorted at the same day
Anyone knows when RIF occurred, WD gave you a few days or escort you out of office immediately?
I'm no longer happy working here. Bunch of incompetent managers. I will be happy if I get the package this time.
The problem for the California WARN report is that they release the report afterwards.
Keep an eye on the WARN report. Companies with 100 or more employees are required by federal law to notify the state 60 days prior to layoffs and closures
If you hate working there so much, why not quit?
