Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

It seems like everyone is applying elsewhere

It seems many teammates are actively applying for roles outside of CCI, even if they think their roles would be safe through another wave of layoffs.

My guess is that individual contributors without lots of RSUs at stake will jump at opportunities to leave…especially people not in Houston and people unwilling to relo there in the future (probably most teammates). What is everyone else hearing?

With talent willing to walk at a moments notice, how can Crown turn around its performance issues?

The bonus structure is a joke. It's effectively holding a large chunk of pay hostage all year and then it's presented as a gift.
I've managed to find work paying the full amount in my base salary. Mgrs are held accountable, growth is based on performance and the business is thriving.

I have a decent amount of RSUs and hadn’t been looking for a while.

I’ve been told repeatedly that I’m “safe” and “needed” but have no path for growth (unless I move to the ivory tower in Houston — I’ve been asked by 5 people to move)

When I started looking, I was shocked to see that Crown pay and benefits aren’t as good for comparable jobs. I can lose all of my RSUs and great 10% 401k match and still be made whole in about 2 years. So I’m applying like crazy.

I don’t care if I’m safe…I care if I have future growth opportunities.

USS Arizona I see that hit a nerve. I wonder who down voted. Must be whoever resembles that remark!

@4igt+1oZW3Gjq EMT has also said on previous calls that CC pays at the 50th percentile... so half of the competitors and similar companies pay more than CC. But EMT keeps spinning everything to make it sound like its basically a privilege to work at CC.

The only thing that has kept me at crown all these years has been the bonus. If we see that significantly slashed come next year I have no reason not to go elsewhere.

@1gzn+1oZW3Gjq:

Could it be anymore obvious that you're JB or LN or another member of the EMT talking up the company you're running into the ground?

Newsflash: Crown underpays its employees significantly - look at comparable jobs in the industry on Glass Door.

Also, there are tons of jobs out there right now.

But sure, keep acting like Crown is the end-all, be-all. We ALL believe you.

Fake news sounds like one of the only have a job because they're related people. No skills and know they won't make half of what they're making now if they have to look for a job.

I had a supervisor and manager who couldn't run a lemonade stand. Literally. They were of course related to one another and te--orized staff daily for sport.

telecomtimmy CC is not a telecom company. Its a REIT trying to look like one. Why do you think hired all these clowns from Qwest/CenturyLink. They made a fiber engineer a district director. One of many terrible decisions. Including the lying mass they call an RVP. Got the previous RVP out based on promises that cant be delivered and are going to bite that extremely wide backside.

FAKE NEWS.
No one is applying elsewhere. We are finally getting rid of all these people who have no telecom experience.
Why would you ever try to work at a telecom company with no telecom experience. D-mb..

RSUs continue to decline every day. Soon will be meaningless. Run, people.

@1ohv+1oZW3Gjq It’s green for those of us that actually gained our position here at CC from our experience and knowledge, not through nepotism. I was hired due to my 20 plus years in telecom, not because my college buddies, relatives, church affiliation etc…

Depends on location. The grass is much greener on the outside here in California. Better opportunities and better pay. Most of them are hybrid or fully remote

Where are all these "elsewheres" people are applying? All the places I've looked at or applied to similar position as my current: a) don't pay anywhere near what I'm making here and b) are not remote positions.

No, I'm nowhere near a point in life where I can survive running a fruit stand near a beach somewhere.

The grass looks shittier or just as shtty on the other side of all the fences I've looked at.

The purple CC is the new scarlet letter in the business. Potential employers of CC alumni are reaching out and asking questions. The purple cancer is being avoided by others.

The layoffs are the tip of the iceberg. There is a federal complaint against the company for being untruthful on federal contracts. I would look elsewhere as it is only going to get worse.
