Thread regarding Ford layoffs

RTO is coming when COVID Emergency Orders finally fall off.

Ford has been waiting for the "experts" and lawmakers to allow for the emergency orders to no longer be in place. As soon as those fall off, which is supposed to me May, as of right now, then it will be RTO. If you don't return, you'll be fired, pretty simple. No excuses, no pushing them to have exceptions, nothing.

Rotunda center is up and running, though still pretty empty, along with many other buildings. Other buildings that didn't even receive a refresh are pulling back in computer screens, desks, and chairs, getting them ready. Some cleaning and lunch staff have also said they were told that come May the buildings will be back to being busy and they'll need to staff appropriately.

It matters because UAW members sign a contract every 4 years. They have strike leverage in order to get bonuses, raises, pensions, and health care. Salaried feels they are better off negotiating individually. Salaried has little leverage and has seen an erosion of benefits as a result. Since many salaried feel that their best leverage is kissing up to management, you will RTO if management tells you to do so, or you will go elsewhere. You aren't going to successfully strike over RTO when your coworkers won't join you.

why does it matter how many times or when they get their bonus sign up. I think the point they are trying to make is the get 8000 9000 handed to them plus their profit sharing. Many people would take that as an incentive. That is alot for some people. and would make people want to RTO.

@1vco+1l7BnfWU your brother gets profit sharing every year. He gets a signing bonus every 4 years when the UAW contract is renewed.

@1pee+1l7BnfWU don't worry. Real soon there's a real possibility you'll be unemployed and none of it will matter.

Ford+ =s move 90% of all jobs to Mexico and Brazil. Outsource IT and let Google develop our software.. Get rid of all buildings in Dearborn except the Glasshouse.

WFH. RTO. It won't matter!

RTO is garbage, why should we be in an office when we don’t have our own space, aren’t near our team and we just Webex calls sitting next to people doing the same damn thing.

@1dkj+1l7BnfWU - The note I saw that came from our LL2 indicated that they were expecting to coming at a cadence determined by at the team level, but with just one brief statement at the end that it doesn't apply to those on full-time remote agreements. Short of it is that if you didn't already arrange full time remote classification you'll be required to come in to the office periodically. If you're full time remote, you don't have to at this time though don't be surprised if the rules change down the road and the full time remote classification is eliminated

@1ocz Once again, UAW members do not get a signing bonus every year. They do not sign a new contract every year. Is there a reason why you repeatedly insist on sharing your ignorance?

How does RTO work for out of state people that were hired during the pandemic? These people are no where near a Ford facility.

Every year they get a sign up bonus. Further more I have been going in for2 years now. Speaking of brainless look it up your picture is posted next to the word. I have been going in for 2 years so no grass is not being cut but I am quite sure your loser self has done plenty of mowing the grass since I doubt you can get anything done in a day. I would bet you are not a ford employee you are not smart enough

The UAW contract signing bonus is not every year. You will be RTO. If you don't like it, you can quit. If you are so valuable that the company can't lose you, you might be able to make an arrangement for a few months before a replacement is found.

"Really???? no one gets sign up bonus...hmmm please let the uaw know that bill and Jim. My brother gets one every year working at the plant. I do not get one however. So yes give me a sign up bonus and I will be there every day. You are obviously clueless on what is going on . Do you work at ford an do not know about the sign up bonus every year. looks like you are not a ford employee. Stay off the blog"

Oh wow I do work at Ford you are full of cr-p your pi---d because you do not get a sign on bonus? Well guess what either does the UAW read the contract. I do hope you stay home for good we don't need brainless mo--ns making decisions for the hard workers that had to come in everyday while your home sleeping on cutting grass pushing snow etc etc. Maybe go out and find some more toilet paper. You probably think you can buy ocean front property in Michigan also. Stay off the sub Asssssssshat

This is easy. On the fifteenth, "Everyone on the floor, today is your last day at Ford. Please turn in your equipment and badge. "

It's coming.....

Some departments are already told to come in 2 to 3 times a week. I heard that some areas had people sitting on the floors as there was no more room. Interesting to see which building they open up next.

@xla+1l7BnfWU I don't think anyone should look to Henry Ford for political advice. If you don't understand why, go read a history book.

Well that sucks. Since there isn’t enough seats, I guess the 20-25% headcount reduction the F150 guy was talking about will take place prior to that.

This is such a Ford thing to do. March to the beat of the government orders. Bill is such a little socialist. Henry would totally disown him.

There aren’t enough seats for everyone to come back 5 days per week. PDC won’t be ready for at least a year.
