Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

It's time to Unionize.

If you are a night shift worker not interested in this new "high performance culture" that upper management is pushing that makes the workers take over jobs and tasks created by the end of the year 2023 layoffs without any monetary compensation. If you are tired of having your raises pushed back every year and reaching a limit of what you can earn in your department. Join me.

If you are legitimately interested in starting a union say "I'm in" in the comments below. I will check this thread next week with an update.

It because of the things you correctly point out that we will not see one red cent of the CHIPs act

They’ve already sold 1 of 3 US Fabs. Now there are 2 left. One of them is 60+ year old 200mm. The other one is approaching 15 years of operation. Both are making legacy technology and have recently laid off almost 10% of its US workforce.

GF is currently investing and expanding overseas. Unionizing will NOT change the direction of GF nor get them to invest in US operations. The ONLY way GF US operations will expand and improve if it gets its hands on CHIPS act money.

Guess how many union sites there are among US semiconductor companies.. Yep…. That many

Not enough people to make a difference either way. Just look at the gullible weasels getting their passports ready to go train your (and their own) replacements.

Spend time polishing your resumes and honing your skills instead. Start socializing the idea of a move with your loved ones.

IBM tried to unionize with many more members and nothing happened, except job loss to outsourcing and loss of pension.
The only correct response is to quit and work somewhere compatible with your ideals and salary requirements.

A union will not change the fundamental nature of GlobalFoundries. It will still be ran by a vertically challenged, flip flop wearing man with a bad tan. The best solution is to leave GF.
