How Does Ford Monitor People WFH?

Do LL6’s read their GSR emails or use keystroke software to be sure they are working?

I used Firefox on Ford laptop, and somehow, Google Drive is blocked for access. It is not a hard block cut off, but rather, instead of blocking Google IPs, it seems to block or throttle certain ports....

Those who are working from home will be the first to go. Best of luck everyone.

WFH has been the greatest thing. My deliverables are so easy and my manager has absolutely no clue to what is happening so I keep collecting a paycheck. My manager is always unavailable and not online too much. I just use software to keep my laptop looking active. The WFH revolution has allowed me to spend more time growing my ebay business which is really taking off now. I know lots of people who WFH that have side businesses going. On a typical day Ford business gets about 30% of my time and ebay the other 70%. My analysis has shown my ebay business to be more viable than Ford's so that explains the 70/30 split.

No supervisors and managers cannot read their teams emails just because.

The Onion did a spoof on "outsourcing in America". This is a gag, but very applicable.

This reminds me of the story of the guy who paid someone in India a paltry sum to do his projects so he basically only worked one or two days per week . . . until he finally got caught.

Use a software that keeps you screen awake. Some people use noise.exe. For me it's just convenient because the prior posters are correct: I can tell you who is working and who is not by the deliverables, etc.

They have the ability to monitor keystrokes, read emails, etc. but also need to make sure that the person is not on the road on business or else on vacation who happens to occasionally log on. They also need to make sure the network is up and running healthy that day because many times the faulty network logs people off randomly throughout the day. Whenever that happens, people will work offline.

Now if they suspect you of not working and want to fire you for one reason or another, they will always find a way. It will not be due to "lack of activity" on your computer.

If you’re a professional you don’t need a babysitter. Quality was JOB ONE at one time. Now it’s Ford+ plan what ever that means.

"Webex" - that is a little simplistic. I work in testing and validation, and we see a lot of issues that come from a lack of attention to detail. Billions in warranty and quality issues.
The engineers are losing touch with the products that go into Ford vehicles. The pending job cuts are more about moving jobs out of the USA than increasing money for EVs and getting rid of ICE.

A lot of engineers can work from home a lot cheaper in Mexico, Brazil and India.

American WFH people will no longer be needed. ICE or no ICE. EV or no EV.

People that work from home have deliverables. They also have design reviews to support. They are expected to respond to questions in a timely fashion. They either get things done or they don't. Monitoring what they are doing every minute of the day is not necessary. If a job requires constant monitoring it shouldn't be wfh.

Yes. They do monitor my screen and web sites. I just give my LL6 a cut on my online gambling winnings. lol

The WFH people still have deliverables with deadlines. No other monitoring is needed.
Would the company be better off if everyone was back on site? Yes, but that is a topic for another thread.
