Why is ConocoPhillips paying $58 and hour to contracting companies to provide skilled workers, when the workers are working for 50% less wages than permanent employees. Just pay these contractors their pay directly and get the contracting compaies out of the equation to save $30,000 per year on one contractor.

I love the idea of transferring g to Texas where there is no income tax. It would also be nice to be located in the heart of lower 48 activity to be able to feel more like a part of the company and not a runaway stepchild.
Would they have to move all the pot shops and meth labs too? It might work out if those were all left behind.
@1mzo+18ewZG3A - Seems like you may not know what all is in Bartlesville. Concho is a SMALL company and would not house everything we have in Bartlesville. Rethink your idea!
Cost saving idea! Close Bartlesville and do that part of our business in Midland at Concho facilities.
The cost of employee benefits far outweighs the $30k paid to a temp agency. Additionally contract employees are at will and can be let go at any point in time, no documenting infractions, no severance payout, etc.s
Cut the number of supervisors and layers of management would be the best option
Cost saving idea, Employees
Reduce everyone's salary/benefits by 30%. Very simple and avoids layoffs.
Because of Legal advising against it due to liability purposes. It’s safer to hire a brokerage to provide their workers so the contractors do not appear to be compensated or treated like employees.
