Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Former LOC Employees

How secure are the fully remote employees who are former LOC employees. How long until they are laid off as we staff up in the hubs? Thoughts?

@Refh to your point, laid off is probably not the correct term but their actions were intended to get rid of employees in the LOCs. When they closed the LOCs before COVID, they gave the option to relo to hubs fully aware that most of the employees would not do so. So they can claim it was not a layoff because they gave you a choice. I don't expect any former LOC employees working from home to be downsized, rightsized, laid off, bought out, or whatever term they use next. It has become common knowledge that the experience of tenured LOC employees is a necessary evil among SF execs right now. It must really chaps their a$$ they have to keep us around so the whole claim op does not implode any further than it already has.

Ha ha! They cant hire enough to keep with the retirements, which keep coming. Most LOC employees arent worried about being laid off, they are worried about the best time to retire and the economy. You see, it is not al about SF.

They have "never laid off" remote claim handlers? How many remote workers did they get rid of when they closed regional offices, service centers, LOCs, AFEs, etc. Dopaganda!

They have never laid off remote workers in the past. Why would they start now? Remote workers are 100% safe. Hub workers on the other hand. . .

Just keep living in your dream world that you are not replaceable. Everyone is replaceable!

They cannot hire employees in the hubs to do the same quality and perform at the same volume as LOC employees. The stats are really clear. The math in this case works for the LOC employees. Cheaper = more expensive.

The quality of the new people they are hiring - it's scary actually mistakes are made every day that are serious - they don't know sh*t. It's actually embarrassing. The remote LOC employees that have been here before all the 6 digit aliases are not going anywhere soon.

Just remember: If they can have someone in the hubs do the same job for less pay and benefits, it's a no brain decision. So yes LOC employees are replaceable. Remember LOC employees the labor laws in the state you work.

@1ubi-reading your posts clearly explains why you did not pursue an education. You cannot read, let alone comprehend. The OP was not asking if LOC roles were safe. As always you answered a question not asked which explains why anything beyond HS was impossible for you. Good thing SF provided you a job that did not require intelligence.

@1mvm I'm glad you finally get the point.

Nobody is safe and everyone is valuable until someone with more sway decides they aren't. That's been the counter argument to every one of your posts here.

So back to OP: "how secure are former LOC employees"

They aren't.

"Are

It is a little ironic but Covid saved the LOC jobs. Forced to work from home they demonstrated that not only was it possible but the quantity and quality of work was superior to non LOC employees on average. Add in no associated leased office expense to LOC employees and their value is very apparent.

Not surprised to see the plan was to originally eliminate all LOC employees. No wonder they shuddered those offices so fast when the pandemic started.

You just described every business in America. If you want certainty start your own business and employ yourself. No courage no certainty.

They'll be here until someone decides they shouldn't be be here anymore.

Just like every other user group and department in the organization.

Could be next month could be next decade. We're employed at the pleasure of execs who need to make sure they keep their bonuses in fact.

The response was to the OP that suggested as hubs add staffing then LOC employees will be severed. That will not happen. The original plan was to eliminate all LOC employees. However, the hub turnover and low quality hub employees made the executives alter their LOC plan-especially in light of their productivity, experience and very low turnover. No one can accurately predict the future with 100% accuracy but in the near term LOC employees will not be laid off-regardless of hub staffing. Ten years from now, no one knows

@1uke no it isn't. We're like 6 years removed from the last wave of former LOC people either being severed or told to move to a hub if they want to keep their job.

Nobody at this company is safe.

ET is different than claims. ET will be off shored. LOC employees are a whole different ballgame-even within claims. Most productive with the least turnover according to the numbers people….

@cyj yeah well F-wad and Rashley both told everyone in ET there'd never be another transformation.

And then F-wad got in front of literally the entire department and pulled some semantics BS explaining why what happened with HCL wasn't "transformation"

PS is right, they won't lay off these folks. They'll... off lay them.

Liar not! I refuse to put names on this, but if I had to put my right hand on the bible and my left forming a right angle with left hand pointing up in a courthouse, I would tell the truth and the whole truth. Believe me! It was said by a high ranking person in the company.

State Farm Still Dealing With Return of its Workforce: CEO Tipsord

https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/national/2022/12/12/699083.htm

Tipsord acknowledged the mutual insurer’s workforce won’t look like it does today either, and he said he thinks there are some long-term consequences to employees. He admitted State Farm has drafted multiple plans to bring employees back but the company has realized “the power of virtual capabilities in terms of interactions, that were forced upon us at the depths of the lockdown.”

According to PS, never. His response was why would you layoff the most productive employees with the lowest turnover by a wide margin?
