There’s an old axiom: “never let a good crisis go to waste”. No matter whether the impact of this virus is mild or dire, the economic impact looks like being considerable as this seems like dragging on for a while.
One thing is clear is that Cisco will not miss the opportunity this crisis offers. If the execs wanted to undertake major surgery, the rest of FY20 is the ideal time.

Anybody who says that the CV is just another flu is a class I id–t.

Anybody who says that the Swine Flu is just another flu is a class I id–t.
Anybody who says that the SARS is just another flu is a class I id–t.
Anybody who says that the MERS is just another flu is a class I id–t.
Anybody who says that the Avian Flu is just another flu is a class I id–t.

Anybody who says that the CV is just another flu is a class I id–t. Not surprisingly, with every passing day, there are less in that camp. Spend an hour and inform yourselves. This thing k–ls very healthy people. It seems to recur once you’ve already had it. It’s fairly easy to pass on. It has a long incubation period. Many people pass it on without showing symptoms. And God help us if it evolves into something worse. If you think it’s no big deal after some reading, they’d love to have you volunteer down at the local quarantine center.

@1mvb if this is just like a fly why did the chinese isolate a 70 mil people province and turned off the entire economy for a month. after 10+ visits to china i can tell you that they like money more than we do...

why drivethru-testing in korea, why is italy going bananas. why is everyone hit closing schools, why every country that gets hit is running out of hospital beds. this thing is much slower than flu, i'd wager that it's less infectious as it spreads slower but it surely k–ls much more and freaks everyone else along the way

WFH increases your chances of being LR'ed. Out of site -> out of mind -> out of loop and finally LR.

Who knew there were so many infectious disease control experts at Cisco?

Well I guess our Beats are about cardiac health now so it makes a weird kind of sense.

Been lots of cars in the RTP 4 lot at night over the last couple of weeks, that one used to be empty at night. But there is still that one motorcycle that has been parked in the same spot for about 2 years ... LOL

@1mvb+13No21RI - not sure who you’re responding to.
I’m not suggesting shut down everything - that would also hurt the economy and cause more panic. The information from government official channels is missing.
I’m saying the CDC and the federal government should have taken the lead - media and local government are having to handle this on their own. As we are chatting that is still true.
The lead should have been taken by the CDC - they represent the government with public announcements.

FACT: 25,000 people die of the flu in the US every single year.

Would you have us shut down everything during flu season? Ban travel everytime there is another SARS, or Avian Flu, or MERS?

This is a larger issue than Ebola with no end in sight on at this point in time and when it could be brought under control. Trying hard not to be a downer but this could have been handled much better.
Corona and flu like viruses tend to come back later in the year. People are going to perish or become carriers and even today CDC is handling it like “don’t want to touch this”.
Hopefully long run this is going to be nothing but today it is a real problem in our lives - to our health and the economy. I’d rather be wrong than win some popularity contest but it appears local governments are handling this on their own.

Ebola may have been, medically, a more challenging problem but the disease spread was easier to handle. Anyway this is not as simple as trump vs obama: this is about people’s lives.

It is lower cdc budgets that kept awareness of this whole issue even in the medical community so low.
Thank you local officials for stepping up with CDC missing in action for so long.
