They act like people here really have no other option.
They think we should be happy to have any job at all. Is that the best this company can do?
Give people jobs and try to convince them that they shouldn’t expect and want more?
Maybe that strategy could have passed in the past, but there are fewer and fewer people who are staying at their jobs and who are happy just because they have a job. Walmart will eventually pay the price for such a strategy and attitude towards employees.

I disagree, and history has already proven it’s true. Walmart employs approximately 2.3 million people in the US. With that large a work force for this long, there’s tons of data that perfectly identifies the demographic profile of associates in all roles across the company. They know exactly what to expect in skill level, work responsibilities, associate capability, turnover, attendance and wages.
Now, having said that, it’s also true that Walmart is quick to promote capable or eager associates. Here’s the catch though: you have to come to work when you’re supposed to; you have to follow directions; you have to stay off your phone; you have to have a good attitude; you have to have a “welcoming” demeanor and not confrontational. You have to dress and act in a way that shows you want to be more than you are (right now). Is any of that a surprise?
It’s simple. If you can do those things to raise yourself above the others that are doing the absolute and bare minimum around you, you could be pleasantly surprised how fast Walmart can move you up.
But if you don’t, then YOU made the choice to continue the status quo. If you want to make more money, have more responsibilities, have a real career, financial freedom and provide a rosy future for you and a family, you have to set that as your goal and work every day toward it. Life isn’t a give-away. If you’re expecting someone to just give you the easy life simply because you want it, you are sorely mistaken and you’ll figure that out one day when you pull your head out of your backside.
It’s your decision. You either want to make something of yourself or you don’t. If you do, then start making changes tomorrow. If you don’t, then just look around- in 5 years, your work & wage situation won’t have changed much.
