Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

Discriminatory layoffs?

Noticed almost every single layoff I heard about at facilities all around the country were white males only or at least >95% and not at all balanced relative to the current workforce diversity mix. Did anyone else see the same thing?

@1mnz+17r06c1q here

BTW, I was 11 days shy of my 3 year anniversary and in my 20s at a low COL facility, so I was hardly an expensive employee.

Black male here. I was laid off.

My boss was a white female and all of my managers above her were white.

Unfortunately, there's still one other black person and one other male employee (on a team of 10-15 employees) who weren't laid off.

Ours were mostly women and minorities. Newer employees, for the most part.

Best wishes to you all. Checking this site to see if the same pattern that happened at Collins happened here. I’m a 55+ high potential white female whose last pft stated as such who was given the ISP after 30+ years of exemplary performance who gave the company her all. I see more of a pattern of age discrimination. To survive you have to accept the severance even though a strong lawsuit could be built. It’s new times.....

It’s only been relatively recently that Pratt has hired anywhere near what can be called a diverse workforce. If you look at folks hired prior to, say, 2005 or so, the salaried workforce is overwhelmingly white male. So, if the layoffs are hitting older workers more, then, yeah, the laid off population would skew white male. It’s not a case of “reverse discrimination.” I would look towards age discrimination instead.

Sure, There are race cards here and there, by and large, white is doing pretty good at Pratt.

Do you really think a company as big as Raytheon would engage in practices like this and expose themselves to lawsuits??

this is probably the result of a trend we are all suffering - shift to lower cost workforce...

I was let go Tuesday, and I can say it was not due to performance. I am a middle aged white male; the only one on my previous team. I am not making accusations, just providing facts. I can say they will be making thier numbers this year due in large part to my efforts. I dont know what im going to do, two young children and poor job prospects are not a good combo. Just at a bit of a loss right now.
