Keeping skills sharp

I thought that I would have a lot of opportunities to learn new things at GM. However, I am not satisfied with how much I managed to upgrade my skillset here. There were simply no such opportunities for me.

Since I think that keeping your skills sharp is very important I will soon leave the company, but I am also interested in your experiences: is GM a good place to learn for you or are you not totally satisfied?

I may or may not have written that code. Sorry about that... they had a lot of second hand systems that they bought for cheap (or for nothing) and we were just supposed to somehow make it work.

I improved myself and what I worked on but my coworkers resented that and all the extra work I was doing so they devalued everything I did and spread rumors about me. Any improvement was not worth the retaliation. (The code was pretty weak where I was, too.) Truly, the sleaziest people I ever met were at GM.
