It is still a bit early for the company to be broken up but the Govt is already talking to Big Tech about tossing Intel a lifeline by moving some production to Foundry.
Apple could become a part owner of a spun off Foundry, and maybe bring some operational discipline to the business.
ARM is about to hit PCs, hard, and that may force the merger of client and datacenter with AMD or other competitors, as the x86 ecosystem will get smaller over time.
Best hope Intel has at this point is to spin off Client and Datacenter, then make a pivot to RISC V, as ARM is getting old too.
Both Intel and Apple have China connections. They are not American companies.

Apple can do much better than Intel. Why buy Intel as a burden? The Intel people are too eager to be bought, or get free money from government. Why not work hard to improve yourself?

It would be a disaster. Intel is not going to be saved except to drag Apple down with it.
Apple only buys an entity if that extends it current business. There no such visible business/project looks as extension to Apple's business. In the past Apple bought Intel's modem because of it's existing cellular business. Do you see anything in Intel like that?
No, Apple has its own issues and doesn't need anything Intel has to offer.
