If you are going to post about being laid off or know someone who is being laid off please provide some kind of details. Just saying, "happened to me today" only leads to more uncertainty than at least saying your OU or your function or your site helps everyone else know what's actually going on as this is blindsiding most of us here. I was laid off in June 2023. Got the email the day before for a "important business update. It was at 9am. Then he scheduled a meeting with my team to tell them.....
2 moths pay with benefits, 2 weeks pay for every “compete” year of service. After that you qualify for unemployment.

Yes, "Business Update" meeting means your position is toast.
Disappointing that good people are let go and fraud incompetent DEI folks along with the remote freeloaders who walk their dogs and cats during work hours. Very sad

OU: cardiac surgery; meeting title: re-organization. A couple of R&D positions were terminated.
I was laid off in october of 2023, my meeting was scheduled for 25 minutes, in fact everyone I know that got laid off that day was scheduled for a 25 minute meeting. I was in IT.
Does the title say something vague like “Business Update”?
