Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Is there even a slim chance that the layoffs leak was wrong?

As somebody mentioned, could it have been done to try and get people to leave on their own? I know this is probably just wishful thinking, but the more time passes, the more I keep hoping that it's going to blow over. Or at least the number will turn out to be much, much smaller.

Ford going bankrupt? Not a chance since the family will lose their special stock.

And spinning off ford blue? Think about that for a minute. The only components under Model e are what, battery, e-drive, and associated bits? The vast majority of the content in EVs are from Ford Blue.

Your post has mixed messages. Doug Field is the top leader talent we have in the company right now, and he is the right person to lead Model e which includes everything data and digital. In that context, he has already won and will win for Ford going forward.

Ford going bankrupt? Not a chance. The company transformation plan is solid and underway. There are plenty of company resources available for you to get more information on the Ford+ Plan if you need to learn more.

And the irony of my first job designing a bracket for the module engine. We have come a long way baby.

When the CEO states to the media that the company has too many people and not the right mix, then it is pretty clear that it is not a rumor. It is safe to assume that their will be many layoffs moving forward as the Ford Blue branch is pruned and eventually cut off.

I don't ever recall a CEO saying that they do not have the right employees for the future! This tells me that they finally woke up and are now trying to adjust the staffing. Ge-z.... what a hot mess.

Doug will win. Bill is enamored with his BEV above all posturing. Doug won't even endorse hybrids. Bill is over the moon in love with Doug and his "environment first" beliefs. Expect Jim to retire to go race full time, and Doug named as his replacement. Doug will then spin Blue off into its own company.

Ford will be bankrupt by 2027. Batteries will get more expensive. No way Model E turns a profit on its own.

Bye bye Ford.

@OP there is NO chance that the layoff leak was wrong.
There have been silent continual trimming the last few months.
Odds are Kumar, the purveyor of doom, will be tasked with telling us when the cuts are COMPLETED. And then Farley will announce that Kumar is retiring. Doug Fields is lobbying hard to take the CEO position from Farley. Expect a dust up with one of the two being ousted.

You have nothing to lose if you have your paperwork signed and accepted by NESC by Nov30 and start retirement on Dec1.

NESC will have a handful of unhappy folks if they stop answering phones and quit processing paperwork.

Not that management cares but it would make for a smoother transition if things could happen sooner than later.

Ford is waiting for September. Many people will leave voluntarily.

Safest organizations to be in (even if you suck as an employee):

  • Model E - obviously!
  • Ford Pro - Ted Cannis has tripled the size of the former fleet organization and Cannis and Farley are (shal we say) best buddies. Neither can be trusted!!!
  • - Customer Experience (CX) - Elaina Ford has the Board of Directors and Farley so drunk on CX that she keeps creating positions (like Cannis) to justify that huge expense.

Now, Engineering (where we need the focus to get quality right), IT, and any other organization need to prepare for post-Ford career options. I am! But then again, why do I keep beating my head against the wall every 3 years with this massive stress?
I wish you Good luck as we all try to accept the inevitable.

It is true. There is a bug ugly cut coming. Just do your best to focus, be prepared to accept whatever you are dealt and try not to let it get you down. In the end, there is nothing any of us can do about it.

There have already been over 4000 job cuts this year. 1300 in April, 700 in PD may, then nearly 2000 agency and purchased services. Also rumors that ITO got hit on Friday.

So no, the rumors are correct.

No they are preparing a list so that they can avoid legal issues. No one is safe except model E.

If it had been a false rumor management would surely announce that and put people’s mind at ease not because they care that people worry but because they know how disruptive to productivity the worrying can be.

No.
Farley said we have too many people, and we have the wrong people.

As much as I wish that was true, I do not think so. Otherwise how do you explain the "we have too many people" comment. And "cuts are coming but we will share info with you first" comments? Whatever the plan is, they need to come forward with it immediately now that it has leaked.
