They Even Sc*ew You In Retirement

I retired just over a 2 years ago. At the time I was told that due to Covid retirement pins were back ordered. No big deal and not really that excited about the pin anyway. Finally almost 2 years later I get an email with the following cut and paste below. Who made the promotional company “aware”? Cheap basta*&s. They already stole money from me when they suspended the 401k matching during Covid. I had them send me the retirement pin anyway.

So happy I retired from this toxic company early and took on a second job/careerwith a company that actually values people.

Greetings! A retirement emblem (pin) may be ready to ship in a few weeks. We have been made aware that some emblem requests have been cancelled as employees have declined the pin/charm.

Please reply and advise if you wish to receive an emblem, or if you prefer to decline/ cancel. Nothing will ship unless we receive your reply. Thank you!

In was just happy to leave and retire. I did not look back and try to forget about all the BS I went through. The can take my pin and stick it up my old supervisor a ss. My reward was getting away from toxic exxon BTEC shi t h ole. BTEC needs to be nuked all the cronies and family members that work there need to go. That whole complex baytown is a cesspool of sharks and snakes. I never worked with anyone who was nice they were all evil despicable persons. Be happy you made to retirement and got the he-l away. Life is way better after exxon.

They sent me something that does not even resemble a pin…it appeared to be a defective that was pulled off the assembly line for recycling. I was not surprised because I was targeted for years with myriads forms of mistreatment. It eventually came down to I continued being an ethical individual and said No to a higher ranking male manager who was used to Yes. My integrity will last forever vs. the defective whatever it was that was sent to me in lieu of a pin will rust.

Did they really have climatologists back in the 70s predicting this? I doubt it. Probably meteorologists for predicting weather offshore.

My dream exit interview: Ask the board and CEO just a simple question . . . do any of you actually believe in anthropogenic global climate change?

I get 2000 dollars to spend at Amazon. Don’t care about the pin.

Two years ago I retired and selected this retirement pin. Why, I am not sure? But I guess someone got PIPed, and they are now just getting around to finding out these highly regarded pins never shipped. So I will wait two years to respond that, yes, I again do want the pin.

Exactly. The pin is worthless. It’s how the company treats current and former workers. For the negative Nancy’s poking at the worthless pin, will you care when they take away your pension, cut your 401k again, make you report to some kindergarten manager in India…..?

OP I I absolutely get what you saying. I also received the same e mail after 2 and 1/2 years or retirement. People...please understand that it's not about the worthless pin, but about the way you're treated on the way out. I'm so glad to out if this company. Enjoy your retirement.

I was disrespected so many time that I lost count. Finally had enough of the cronyism, lies, dishonesty, and abuse that I resigned. Could not take it anymore.

I hoped that at least I would get an exit interview to tell the brutal truths. But no, HR sent me a form to cover the company from lawsuits. Could not find anyone from HR to talk to. No farewell, no gratitude. Just people happy to see one more person leave. They all know the truth….but they are not interested because they heard it hundreds of times before.

At any rate, a pin would have been a nice token of appreciation. In the old days, it would have been supervision who delivered it with words recognizing your contributions. Sending a form letter to you signals that you are just another number.

Just put all the toxicity behind. Be glad that you are now with another company that values people.

A pin. For retirement?
I got an original Remington statue of a cowboy for my retirement. I didn't ask for it. Just showed up one day.

Even though this is most likely a troll let's pretend it's not.

It's a pin. Move with your life. There's a whole world of stuff to do out there.

Thank you for listening.

In the end, what will you do with the pin? Unfortunately they aren't worth much.
For all the pins I received, I could have used a gift card to Chic Fil instead.

Good luck
