Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

No hope what so ever!

I've been with SF for 28 years and going to retire in 4 more. I have a business outside of SF so that gets me to 55 and I will be done! Great now that I can take my medical and delay taking my pension. We are starting to get a lot of the new hires on my floor and it is an absolute joke. Each group that comes out is worse and worse than the group before. I have never experienced or met so many d-mb people in my entire life. They have lived in a bubble their entire lives....from 50-21 they are all just completely clueless. I have never seen so many people with so many issues and problems. They all have some type of phobia, accommadation, under treatment for some type of depression or mental issue, nothing but baby mama/daddy drama, money problems and a walking reality TV show. Most can barely spell a sentence or form a rational reasonable thought. I try to explain the simplest concept to them and their eyes just cross and head turns sideways. SF is soooo f-cked! It's embarrassing!!! It's what you get when you fleece the work force for millions! Good job MT!

@2dmn. Ever take a business ethics class? If not, highly recommend along with psychology. May help.

@1qrt. Your semse of business sense of morality is clearly self serving give it up. Stalking and promoting it is getting old for everyone in this public board. Censorship much?? Or just feel proud of yourself? Freakishly odd

@1qrt. Truth or your conscience bothers you. Divorce and substance abuse factually will put you behind the right ball in retirement. It's a fact and has zero to do with moral superiority. Once you pull the trigger, you can't put it back in the barrel. Are you one of those mentioned, or are you just jealous and angry someone made the right decisions and are able to get out before you? Participation trophy type? If you are, get professional help to put you on the right track. To OP: IMO you are making the right decision. They will never be able to buy your time, health and state of mind. They try and fail miserably. Hint for retirement.

@1kol…..Give it up already. The moral superiority campaign, using made up issues, is really really old.

@1bxm+1houLN5W- if you are 55 and can make it until 2023, you can defer your pension and still get healthcare.

I told everyone long ago what @1xvc is saying. It's not only the new hires, it's in leadership. When they come out of a management meeting so baked they get into the wrong car and are refused to purchase alcohol due to the inebriated state, should tell you something. They're all about me world is crashing and worse yet they fail to see it.

I'm about in the same boat as OP and just need a couple more years. The new pension change definitely helps. Now if they would just offer us a couple of years time credit and a severance package I would sign the piece of paper tomorrow. I don't want to be mean but I have to agree with the OP. I honestly can't believe some of the people they hire, it's just warm bodies to fill seats. Most are untrainable and frankly are better suited flippingmburgers or restocking shelves. I was standing in line this week to get my ticket and to get some food and I swear half the people smelled like weed and looked high! Such hight standards SF, it is an insult to those of us who had to have a degree and interview multiple times to even get our foot in the door. Sad really...thanks Tipsy!

Be proud and be thankful you can. Too many with multiple divorces, substance abuse, and not living within their means CANNOT retire even in mgmt.

If you think you can retire at 55, good luck and God bless you. Remember your healthcare does not cover your spouse.

Unless they changed this in the last three years: when you retire, you have to start taking your pension in order to qualify for retiree medical benefits. Carefully review your benefits before you take the leap. Hang in there!

Not just cluelessness, but arrogance about it as well.
Cluelessness, combined with arrogance, will get you far in today's State Farm operations departments.
