Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Who could be the main targets of cuts this time?

I only know from my experience so far that no one should feel safe. It is futile to worry ahead of time, but in any case it is always better to be prepared.

I know Security will be a part of it. New GSSO VP will be re-shuffling for sure.

@2xiq+1jD7L2bL Yes, the directors, managers, Sr. managers, Sr. directors, BSA.... contribute absolutely nothing to the revenue. I have rarely seen one on a CAP or a GFEP call with agitated customers. They just organise internal webex calls, create powerpoints and talk about irrelevant things. Example, JP with a gardening tool on a webex, SED UK campaigning for everything possible under the sun (from iPhones to EVs to electric shavers to battery chargers...) except Cisco gears - I mean what is the point to all of these?! Its such a waste of time for everybody! There are no more DevNet workshops for customers and partners either - suspect that boat has also sailed for Cisco. The SED UK was the proponent of DevNet workshops in UK and there has not been one in he last couple of years or perhaps even longer. Time for ELT to take note of all these fat and slice them out. This is their last chance to save this once-amazing company, now busted down to scrap because of the self serving agendas of these management layers and a few of their lackeys who spy for them and report upwards, often dishonestly, about their coworkers. The hunger games are unnecessary but very much prevalent here.

@1jjg+1jD7L2bL Totally agree. I suspect the main targets among the SEs in the sales team will be commercials because that can be covered at ease by C2E and GVE. No need to keep a sales field force in commercial and perhaps, to some extent enterprise too, to sit at home, surf the internet, draw a salary and bonuses and palm over anything that is not licensing or TAC, to GVE anyway. These are all overheads and fat along with the platoon of Directors, Managers etc. in sales. Completely useless. And I suspect the message is clear going by the amount of attrition in UK - just heard another Sales Director moved to a competition. PubSec SEs maybe more secure as they do need customer relationships and projects are not turnkey, requires some technical knowhow and security clearance. But the managers in PubSec and yes, the SED himself , are another story - total waste of payroll.

"~80% overall were Caucasian
~80% overall were Males
~80% overall were >50"

reduce their number to 30%. they make up 80% of cisco yet cisco is sinking very fast for the past 15yrs.

The role of account SEs and SAs have been reduced to being license jockeys and TAC case chasers. Wholesale reduction of them is on the cards, despite the huge voluntary attrition in UK sales team in recent times. All jobs will go to C2E until when the ignorant management and UK SED realise the folly of this approach. Not that the SED cares about Cisco.

The Business Solutions Architects are another overhead expense. They do not do anything. I have not met anyone inside of Cisco who knows what they do and can explain their role without parroting big words from Salesforce. BSA's are useless, talk way too much on calls and irritate the he-l out of my customers. Not only they do not generate any revenue, they attach themselves to revenues and are Opex overheads.

On top of this, anyone who does not click his heels (women are exempt from this rule) when they meet the Supreme Leader of the UK SE Team, will be affected in UK.

These were the facts. You can delete the facts, but it was true. Five years ago. About 20 people, one major east coast site.

You don't give a complete view of this layoff. Did your team consist of 80% white Caucasian males as well?

Who could be the main targets of cuts this time?

For my layoff cycle, we (many of us getting LR'd), met up for drinks at a local bar.

~80% overall were Caucasian
~80% overall were Males
~80% overall were >50

One of us was Asian

One of us was a Woman

These were the facts. You can delete the facts, but it was true. Five years ago. About 20 people, one major east coast site.

You can pretend all is well and the data wasn't coincidental.

If you always start Check-ins with "HELLO FROM ..." then you're safe. Confirmed by Chuck.

There is no way I could be a target. My Teamspace has lots of entries every week. My TPS reports are always on time with proper covers. I attend every Checkin and leave a positive comment about the ELTs dress or office, and post "Hello from ".

The inside reps are as inept and useless as most outside reps so won’t make a difference

Would expect additional "pooling" of the sales roles. Doing more with less. But quotas only go up. Spin the wheel and get a random TSA. Good luck.

Theres been so much attrition in sales (at least in my segment) i dont think they could get rid of anymore without causing even more of a disruption

Large number of field sales reps will be LR'd and replaced with inside sales reps
