Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

If Disney closes, we’ll follow suit.

Disney has guaranteed payment for all of their cast members affected by the California closure. Our company has already told parents that they are screwed if their children’s schools are closed for weeks at a time. Pick up shifts they say. Should the parks close, are we going to speak up and demand that they match what our competitors are offering their employees?

Don't forget that SEA will f$%k employees over even more - we can't accrue any PTO any days they close the park. That could be 2+ weeks you won't earn one second of time only to LOSE MORE of the paid time off that WE EARNED!!!!!!

To the person spouting flu numbers... the flu and this virus are not the same. Not to mention the flu you can actually get a vaccine for... Thats all the attention you will get you foolish person.

So the other poster about how much we are valued, I agree with you. I personally look forward to the closing announcement (if it comes) about how much us front line/hourly people are valued and want to be made safe and thats why they are closing... blah blah blah. But if you look at it... they are now the last of the 3 major parks to close and all that means to me is that they waited to see what disney and universal did so they could try to get away with staying open when they knew damn well they should have announced already.

Tonight we find out exactly how much SEA values their employees. We all know that S. Ross, the SEA HR office, and park presidents in our parks care only about themselves and what they're milking from the company before the stocks fall being the point of no return. Let's give a round of applause for these leaders as they're about to perform the show of their lives - they will lie to your face telling you how sorry they are, how much they 'appreciate' what you do, but it's fiscally irresponsible to pay front line employees, the people they will intentionally destroy financially. But the good news is that all these unethical talking suits will lose absolutely nothing since they created an unlimited PTO policy for themselves.

So....US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that as of January 18, 2020, there have been 15 million cases of flu, 140,000 hospitalizations, and 8200 deaths in the US this influenza season. And that no one ran out to buy extra toilet paper...or shut down MLB or the NBA or Disney World.
Hey SR, tell the folks with their hand up your puppet @rs to stop bringing this country to it's knees.

Also this was our corporate communications email this afternoon:

Ambassadors –

As we continue to receive questions regarding the evolving situation with COVID-19, we are sharing these important Frequently Asked Questions with all of our Ambassadors. Please check SEA Port often for updates as they become available.

Ambassador FAQs

What if I opt to take an international trip to an area affected by an outbreak of coronavirus?
Any Ambassador returning from overseas travel will be required to remain out of the office and not return to work for 14 days. This is for your own health and safety, and that of your colleagues and of park guests. If you have questions regarding your travel plans, please contact your local HR team.

What if I have been encouraged to not report to work by a local health department or a physician because I have a higher risk of contracting coronavirus?
Your health is our top priority. Ambassadors who have a specific concern about their health should follow recommendations from the CDC. If you have specific health needs or concerns that affect your job, please contact your local HR team.

Are we changing cleaning procedures for Ambassadors in costumes?
All of our parks will continue to follow their rigorous sanitation routines for all costumes. If you have specific questions regarding this topic, please reach out to our local entertainment leadership teams.

If my child’s school cancels class, what should I do about my scheduled shift?
We understand that some schools may make the tough decision to close. In these cases, please follow our established procedures if you are unable to work your scheduled shift and log into SEA Port which allows you flexibility in trading shifts.

Are you changing protocols for meet and greets during shows and parades?
We encourage Ambassadors to follow CDC guidelines, for interacting with others, including increasing the frequency of washing hands and the use of hand sanitizer.

If you are uncomfortable shaking hands or making other physical contact with guests, you are not obligated to make contact with guests. If you have specific health needs or concerns, please contact your manager.

What should I do if I just returned from a cruise?
Regardless of destination, any Ambassador returning from a cruise will not be allowed to return to work for 14 days. This is for your own health and safety, and that of your colleagues and park guests. Please notify your manager. If you feel sick, follow current protocols and stay home.

Should I be concerned if I am a lifeguard using shared equipment during training such as CPR dummies?
All shared safety equipment is disinfected and sanitized between each use. We are increasing the frequency with which we clean and disinfect numerous high-traffic areas and high-touch surfaces in our parks including safety-sensitive areas.

What are our protocols for delivering emergency care in our parks? (including CPR)
As part of our regular practices, our first aid teams are provided with, and encouraged to use, facial masks when delivering emergency care.

If my job requires opening packages from overseas, are there policies in place on this?
Many of our Ambassadors who work in our warehouses regularly use PPE (gloves, eyewear, etc.) and are encouraged to continue to use of these tools if they desire. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods. Please refer to the CDC’s guidance on this topic: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html#protect

Can I get the COVID-19 virus from swimming in a pool?

According to the CDC, “there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.” For more information please visit - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/water.html

What steps is the company taking to help protect our Ambassadors?

We will continue to enforce our rigorous sanitation policies throughout the parks and have increased the number of hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the parks in key areas as an added measure. Ambassadors are encouraged to visit the CDC website, www.cdc.gov for the latest information including accurate reported cases, prevention recommendations and FAQs.

We have chosen to temporarily suspend all corporate overseas travel and encourage all SEAS Ambassadors to restrict all unnecessary personal overseas travel. We have asked any Ambassador returning home from a foreign country affected by a Coronavirus outbreak to inform their manager and not return to his or her work location for 14 days. A doctor’s note may be required to return to work, depending on the circumstances, consistent with CDC guidance and applicable law.

Can I wear a medical mask to work?

SEAS follows CDC guidance, which does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19.

If I need to wear a mask due to a personal medical condition, how do I request an accommodation?

Requests for any type of workplace accommodation due to a qualified disability should follow the standard protocol in your park. Please contact your local HR team for specifics.

Will warm weather stop the spread of Coronavirus?

As related by the CDC, it is not known whether the spread of Coronavirus will decrease when weather becomes warmer. There is much more to learn about the transmissibility, severity, and other features associated with Coronavirus.

Can I work from home to avoid possible transmission?

At this time, we are not adjusting schedules to allow remote working arrangements for either corporate or park Ambassadors. If this changes, we will let you know.

I’m scheduled to go on a business trip, but I’m concerned about flying. Can I consider other means of communication?

No additional overseas corporate travel is being allowed at this time. If you are concerned about upcoming domestic travel, please speak with your supervisor about potential alternatives including individual or group video conferences.

Is the company increasing sanitation of our parks?

We are continuing to enforce our rigorous sanitation standards across all parks. We are in contact with local and state health officials and will take all precautions necessary to address Ambassador and guest safety, and have placed additional hand sanitizer dispensers throughout our common areas. While handwashing is always best, hand sanitizer should be used between handwashing sessions.

What measures are being taken regarding my safety and safety of our guests?

SEAS has shared important health and safety information from the CDC with all Ambassadors and is in close contact with local and state health officials as we continue to enforce our rigorous sanitation standards across all parks. Additionally, we have suspended future overseas corporate travel and are asking employees to refrain from unnecessary personal overseas travel. In addition, Ambassadors who either return from a cruise or overseas travel will not be allowed to return to work for 14 days.

What should I do if I feel sick at work?

As always, we ask that you not report to work if you are feeling sick. If you start feeling unwell during your shift, we ask that you immediately communicate with your supervisor and plan to return home.

Can SeaWorld’s animals get sick from COVID19?

At this time, there is no evidence that COVID-19 is transmissible from humans back to animals and there are no confirmed cases of this happening. According to the CDC, no animals in the United States have been identified with the virus.

Should I go to the doctor to get tested?

Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for recommendations on how to protect yourself against the Coronavirus.

How will we receive updates on this situation moving forward?

We encourage all Ambassadors to check the homepage of SEA Port often for the latest information on this evolving situation. We feel this is most effective way to share real-time information with all of our Ambassadors.

Well time to see cause yea, disney world just closed and guaranteed their people to be paid.

So now its on the hands of universal and seaworld. So it is now on Scott Ross, Walter, and every other overpaid executive in there to take a public stand and show whether or not they truly care about -anything- that they say they do.
