Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

They are trying to push us out the door without package

It is impossible not to notice that they are doing everything to get rid of some employees without giving them a package.

I would prefer to leave instead of spending money on gas and wasting time being in the office totally unnecessarily, but I still think that in the end not many people will leave because of that, even though they say they will. What do you think?

Referring back to a previous post about the Fortune article PZ did when he discussed the decision to send 6,000 employees to Accenture, he referred to a "serendipitous" meeting with Accenture that led to the outsourcing.

I bet the serendipitous meeting started with, "How can AIG offload 6,000 employees without paying severance packages"? Accenture's reply, "We can handle that one for you"!

You cannot rif thousands and thousands of people and pay them all packages. This would cut into executive salaries and executive golden parachutes. AIG had to choose who gets the shaft and what a surprise it wasn't the executives.

Does anyone know if you move to Corebridge do you keep your AIG tenure PTO, Pay and AIG severance plan?

You will not receive severance from AIG if you turn down the job from Accenture. They treat that as a voluntary termination from AIG & you get nothing. You also do not receive your PTO balance lump sum payout when you transfer to Accenture - they let you carry over up to 10 days to Accenture and that’s it. It’s really a slimy operation they’ve got going on.

@1jio+1ig7QEk7 I am a rebadge employee - if I do not take the Accenture job I do not get severance from AIG. Not taking the job is considered resignation by AIG.

A select few may get the package dangling carrot if they stay and train their overseas replacement. For most it is either rebadge or termination with no package. Take it or leave it.

You may get a thanks for the years of service as they escort you out of the building?

Does anyone have confirmation that you lose severance if you are rebadged to Accenture?

I used to know an old gambler and his favorite saying was "Sorry about your bad luck". It basically means you gambled and lost.

Those of you who thought AIG would do the right thing and let you retire with dignity. You bet on the wrong horse, you lost. Sorry about your bad luck.

Yes, this has been the strategy for quite a while. When is the last time you saw a large group of people leave with separation packages?

If a large rif is the desire AIG chooses to sell you to a third party to prevent paying you to leave. It is more cost effective in the end. Once you go to a third party you have no tenure, and you are off the AIG books. In other words, you are dispensable.

Just another little way this executive team has figured out how to sc--w the lifers. Bravo PZ, bravo.
