Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Arvind said RTO is for managers only, in his June update? What have you been told if you are a non-manager previously asked to RTO?

I thought this topic would have this site buzzing. I just watched the June office hours a couple of weeks late because I've been too busy, and was very happily surprised to hear Arvind say that RTO applies to managers and execs and no one else other than in very specific circumstances. Great news for me as I went to stay 100% working from home. Anyone previously told you have to go in (example software), has your manager now reversed this mandate?

If you look at the RTO site on W3 it’s stated to be a US only mandate. Because reasons.

Common sense does not exist within IBM Leadership ranks. It's all about command and control from AK and his thugs with ugly mugs. OR put simply, it's my way or the highway.

Doesn’t make much sense for anyone who isn’t collocated with their teams, managers included, to go into the office only to take all calls from a cubicle while not interacting with anyone else physically at the office. However, why let common sense get in the way of decision making when it’s been a while since it was present at IBM

When you have mo--ns like JK and JW running the IBM F&O, what can ever go right with the IBM tooling and infrastructure? They like to lay off hardworking employees, but not their nearest and dearest. It's a wonder these two haven't put themselves on the drop dead list ...yet.

IBM hasn't been able to get a commision payment right for over 30 years. Do really think they can get badge ins correct. Place is a dumpster fire.

IBM executives cannot be trusted because they speak with forked tongues and lie from both sides of their face. The only thing they are good for is for laying off off the lower rank and file employees, and then crying crocodile tears when they do it, knowing full well that it means their yearly bonus got a bump in the right direction. That's why they are executives at IBM, not the janitors at your local high school.

We were told explicitly that we have to be in the office 3 days a week. But, I heard that IBM is having issues collecting badge-in information at most offices, so managers are not getting any data for their employees... I guess it is just IBM's bad technology?!?!? lol!!

So, bottom line, no need to show up at the office. It would be interesting to see what IBM does anyway if nobody shows up at the office at all. Is IBM going to layoff everybody?

This company has become such a fu--ing joke!

The conventional wisdom is that it means there is no IBM-wide policy for ICs. If you are in software, it should be pretty clear what the expectations of your BU are by now.
