DEI.....Dull Entitled Ignoramuses
Not as much demotivating as realization that there are so many stupid people
out there.
This only happens because of incompetent management. and a structure that does not have consequences for bad choices & behavior.
Not as much demotivating as realization that there are so many stupid people out there. Yet someone they manage to get a decent pay check.
My next job will likely be the same. VMware helped me grow as a person, now I realize what a hall of mirrors the entire tech sector is, money corrupts absolutely.
Nope! Things are going just fine and dandy and I am now working in a much more stable industry. Just come here every once in awhile to see what the dirt is. Have fun!~
OP is simply risk averse, still hunkered down behind a monitor, still unhappy, excited about the PBJ sandwich for lunch. You're missing all the fun
I'm sure you have no stress in your current job and you will never be laid off. Good for you.
Why are you on this message board then?/
I seriously do not get why some of you are still here. As soon as the acquisition was announced I started looking. I've been at a different job for 7 months so far. Well worth not having to deal with the anxiety and stress that came from wondering if I was going to have a job or not.
Managers and policy makers’ lack on understanding of the actual work we do.
English has a word for this: incompetence.
If you don't understand the products you produce, or how they are produced and you are a manager and policy maker, you are incompetent.
WWKO. Used to be good back in the TechSummit days. Now it’s just a bunch of sales BS.

The Club winners list.
CIBG.
The acquisition and slashing of the deadwood cannot come fast enough. The company is srsly on life support. How can long can Magoo keep up the facade? Even he is probably ready for it all to be over, so he can finally cash out and retire.
VMW is the next Polaroid/Kodak: once king of the hill, then irrelevant as technology changed, and the company was unable to innovate to keep up.
I really am sorry to be so negative, but Idk how someone can see it any other way. The New VMW / post-acquisition will likely be much more successful, and even more innovative (possibly). But with a much smaller headcount.
Company in decline overall. Literally living off cash-flow from vSphere and VCF. We could completely stop updating all of our SW for a decade and still make billion dollar revenues. So there's no will to innovate. Rest, vest, rest some more. Repeat.
Tanzu.
Micromanaging because people got promoted to leadership with zero qualifications or understanding of what the people they are now managing even do. If you are a project manager that does not make you qualified to be a people manager especially if you treat your people like project updates and require daily standups for no reason other than to hear yourself speak.
India geo refusing to do the work.
Refusing, or flat out incapable?
India geo refusing to do the work. Purposely letting things go stale so the work gets transferred to EMEA. And management that sees this does nothing. "We need to work as a team!" Yeah, tell THEM that boss!
VMC: staff-level resourced asking me what they should do as a next step when it’s their responsibility to know and troubleshoot their product.
Velo: Indian vs non Indian.
EUC - Top leadership and the politics. Only interested in making their millions using double dip spinoff. Sticking to their chairs because of rest and vest. No real vision. Serpent leadership that speaks with 2 forked tongue to the folks down below. Fooling the crowd with management buzzwords. Madden was spot on about the vaporware announcements. Most good folks have already left or planning to leave at the 1st opportunity. Citrix takeout has been the most common buzzword when MSFT is eating lunch and dinner. The 2 big products Airwatch/Horizon will be decimated by Intune/AVD respectively within the next 2 years. Hope the new buyer doesn't buy a lemon.
