A dealer(Xerox) telling a manufacturer(Fuji) terms because dealer has rights to territory. Then the dealer giving up those rights for 2.5 billion. Short term thinking. Who wants to supply anything to Xerox with a 6 month lag time for payments. I would let Xerox die if I was Fuji then come in and offer the technicians and sales people jobs.

@1ijx+179PWkuO In late 2019 xdx and fuji had some discussions and I was told that our coo basically told fuji to come back when they could behave like professionals. I’m sure fuji wants to stick it to us even more than before. The current contract is done dec 2020.

The end of 2019 was when FX and Xerox stopped talking. Our fearless COO told them to pound salt and come back when they could be ‘nicer to us’. Xrx sr leaders didnt like how fuji was treating them. I’m almost certain this did not go over well with the Japanese. They hated us to begin with. I can’t imagine they would come to the table again and not hold that grudge.

Fuji could cut a deal with Amazon and have a way better distribution system than Ryder.

I would think the distribution channels would be worth a lot less to Fuji now that they’ve been stripped down & outsourced. And Uncle Carl didn’t like the original number. Not to mention the value of Xerox has plummeted since then.

  1. Icahn is doubling down on his investment. He has purchased 4 million additional Xerox shares since early August. He knows there will be a payday when Fuji (or someone else) purchases Xerox. Fuji wants to enter the North American market. Why take the time to build a new distribution channel from scratch when you can still buy Xerox and have instant distribution in North America. It will happen, it's just a matter of when.

Xerox international partners located in Palo Alto (which Fujifilm bought the entire Xerox 51% stake last year as part of the separation deal) is intended for the purpose of setting distribution in US.

They don’t need a hardware partner. Everything will be “Newly ManufacTURD” until the end.

The contract for new products with Fuji ends in early 2021. With Xerox’s latest product release I believe that it it for new product’s from Fuji. The support will continue for some time Xerox had no vendor lined up to produce any new A3 or A4 printers. Other then igen, nuevera , and inkjet all other production machines are from Fuji. There is no replacement in the pipeline for the aging Versant Press. They will most likely change the color scheme and call it the Versant 280 and 4100 and pretend it’s a new machine. If Xerox doesn’t make it deal with a new hardware vendor it will go the way of IBM and just become a software solutions provider Xerox had no engineering any more to design new products They would be starting from scratch.

For those of us not involved in the details, is there any Fuji Xerox relationship still? Hasn't it been about 2 years since that relationship became toxic and we had to work for 6+ months to find a new partner with HP?

Other than legacy products that we have contracts with them for, I thought this relationship would be gone after those products are end-of-life'd.

I always suspected Xerox will buyout Fuji Xerox or vice versa.
I still believe that it's the most likely outcome but Xerox has hit major headwinds in resizing in a declining market, topped off with covid19 impacts. An FX takeover of Xerox might make more sense now. But not at $40 a share.....

A kiss and make up arrangement with Fuji after JV disrespectfully trash talked at them in 2018? Seems unlikely, but money talks
