GM announced record profits again.
So no layoffs and huge bonuses for us all, right?

"this sounds like a burger king worker"
Or... "watching tv, taking naps, drinking, doing side-hustles, babysitting or mowing their lawn" is right over the target and you are anxious because you were called out.
"us younger folks can WFH and get our work done just fine"
LOL You'll find out how competitive you are once the layoffs start and corporations like GM can replace you with 3rd world labor. And PS, the 3rd world labor makes less than the Burger King flipper. It's going to be a humbling experience for you and TBH, I'm looking forward to it. FAFO
"Most aren't doing great work while watching tv, taking naps, drinking, doing side-hustles, babysitting or mowing their lawn on Monday and Friday either. "
this sounds like a burger king worker devoid of imagination and intellect
some folks aspire for more
and others like yourself are content to just flip burgers
You sound like a bitter old employee.
Either way it’s not our fault you’re expensive and a layoff/outsource target. And us younger folks can WFH and get our work done just fine. That’s between us and our boss. Not some nobody on the web.
"the best talent is going to walk away because they've got options"
LOL okay.
When is the last time you did a job search? What department do you work in?
Hundreds of thousands of tech workers have been let go in the last couple years.
Manufacturing plants are closing and moving to Mexico and China.
Engineering staff has been running on thin margins for many years.
Right now, "the best talent" is dialing it in from somewhere else. This is not a mystery.
People clinging on to this idea that they have some kind of leverage are in for a very rude awakening.
"most don't do a lot of great work working in a chicken coop in fact they hate it"
Most aren't doing great work while watching tv, taking naps, drinking, doing side-hustles, babysitting or mowing their lawn on Monday and Friday either. We can all see the orange & yellow dots on Teams. You aren't fooling anyone.
"the downsides of spending hours in traffic for the farse that is "collaboration" are completely ignored by the company and while they may get their way, they won't get what they want."
most don't do a lot of great work working in a chicken coop
in fact they hate it
to the last commenter, do u think a good employee becomes a bad one just because they are working remotely or vice versa? the best talent is going to walk away because they've got options and then the company will be stuck with less talented employees who would love to leave but can't. the downsides of spending hours in traffic for the farse that is "collaboration" are completely ignored by the company and while they may get their way, they won't get what they want.
It's time to put on the big girl pants and end the work from home nonsense once and for all. The competition isn't playing games and the only way we can get through the next few years will be with all hands on deck.
Let's face it, things are not right. People aren't committed.
Time to return to the office.
*5 days a week.
*8 hours a day.
*No excuses.
*If you are aren't on board, there's the door.
*If you haven't been complying, you're fired!
we've been hearing that layoffs are coming all year w/ most predicting they would happen right after change-over. w/ July basically being over, u've got to wonder if it was all a scare tactic to strongarm us back into the office.
600 Million to go for cost cutting. You really think no more headcount reduction is going to happen?
Right
