Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Who would want to see Progressive buy Allstate?

And why?

As for me personally, I would not like to see that happen.

Zero chance of a purchase. Just look at the market cap between the 2 companies. Whales don’t eat whales.

There is no evidence of a merger, quit spouting lies.

I left Mega unit to work at Progressive, I was offered the claims examiner at Allstate but it was never given to me. Progressive hired me for that very same position and paid me $10k more plus a bonus that runs about 8k per year. The culture is so much better, if I need to pick up kids after school or schedule appointments during the day I’m allowed to move my schedule around that day to accommodate my life. Is a wonderful place I’ll retire there.

I have had to deal with claims personally with State Farm, Allstate, and Progressive with bad drivers who like to hit my families vehicles. The best to deal with was State Farm, the worst was Progressive each time! They tried to accuse me of being the at fault driver when on camera their insured ran the red light and hit me, not to mention the fact he was ticketed and witness statements. The other time they constantly challenged the auto body shop on the repairs needed and additional damage found, the body shop said progressive is the worst insurance company to deal with from a body shop standpoint.

Twenty years ago, Allstate was a much better company to work for. I left Prog for Allstate and it has been great except the last few years. Tks. Glenn S.

Allstate allows agents to sell Progressive commercial auto since they are so much better at pricing and verticals. That is one unit that needs to taken behind the barn and shot.

@ 1qci+1dillwN1 as a former Allstate employee that is now at Progressive, that was beautifully written.

The culture is so nice. I am appreciated, and paid more. I matter, and have more time to work in autonomy instead of being micromanaged.

I feel a merger would rot the shiny perfect model that Progressive is. I’m in sales and we have former Allstate customers coming in droves. 😈 keep them coming!

It would be nice to see the drunk CEO & the butcher Glenn getting fired if the merger would happen!

This won’t happen. Progressive has done a great job growing from within over the years and unlike Allstate it does not need to buy a company to show growth.

The cost and headaches to merge a well oiled machine into Sears 2.0 would be too great and would slow the core growth rate of Progressive.

The leadership at Progressive is too savvy to consider a purchase. It makes more sense economically to pick off one Allstate customer at a time to grow the business. This is the model that has worked for them well over the last few decades.

I worked for Progressive in leadership for most of my career and only came over to Allstate to chase a recruiting offer to finish the last few years before I retire. Tom Wilson couldn’t properly shine the pumps worn by Tricia Griffith.

@1kyl+1dillwN1 because the red tape required to merge two companies that size is rarely successfully cleared, plus what value is there to progressive buying Allstate if aLlStATe it's such a sh-t show. One look into the actual books and progressive will nope right out

@1gui+1dillwN1 Again, never going to happen- why is not going to happen? The people that believe a Progress-All merger could happen have given their opinion why the merger is possible. What is your rationale for the merger not being executed?

LOL-everyone affiliated with auto would be shown the door. The property folks would have some opportunity to be assimilated. Progressive would not be purchasing for the expertise or personnel-simply the book of business.
