Based on the people I know, I estimate that somewhere between 25 and 30% of the hardware sales engineers (sales consultants/solution consultant) were let go today. I know of at least one group that was eliminated completely and a second which lost over 50%.
The halls at Oracle are knee deep in the purple blood of former Sun folk.

no SC's were impacted on the Customer Success side under Steve McMillian. But lots of CSMs lots their jobs today.

Dozens of SCs laid off in CX orgs across the USA.
If no sales consultants were laid off then more sales rep will be rehired.. ratio of sales consultants to sales guy is pretty much a constant
5 Presales SE's and the SE manager, in ES in my region got canned.
Lots of solution consultants calling me for jobs today. Database, BI, Solaris, E-Business, PeopleSoft etc. so looks across the board.
