Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

How’s that cost cutting master plan going for you Marvin? - Censored Post from 2/26/20

So, yesterday I wrote a post here, mocking Marvin Ellison for the fiscal results that were currently released. I pointed out that for all the cost cutting that had been done, the results were pathetic. I observed that Marvin is inept and that all of this short sighted cutting of payroll and overhead are not a long term strategy for growing profitability. I mocked his adopting customer centric scheduling and the resulting hollowing out of associates with tenure and knowledge.

So, where’s the post? It was here last night but now it is magically absent. Anybody out there want to answer that question? There was nothing racist, false or threatening in the post, so why is it gone? What guidelines were violated? Really, I want to know.

Which brings up another question. Who owns this site? Who owns and runs The Lay-off? I think the answer might be very interesting. Because overly critical comments seem to wind up on the deleted pile. Might the people running this site have a conflict of interest? Maybe they are more interested in appeasing people at the top of Lowe’s than maintaining objectivity and integrity? Something to remember when posting your next comment.

Our district manager came in 2 months ago, complaining about our commercial sales coffee station and demanded we upgrade and make it look better.

Since upgrading, we have had no coffee, filters, sugar, etc for 7 weeks and counting. Good job guys.

Apparently corp cancelled the requisition and the store is now unable to order coffee supplies. I guess Marv and Joe want another $100 bucks in their bonuses.

For as trivial as this sounds, we had guys leave, and cancel their pro account because they said this was the last straw. Thats how fed up these guys are with the lack of customer service.

Don't be dense. Freedom of speech is both something enshrined in law and a principle to aspire to. When someone is clearly using it as the latter don't pretend they really mean the former. Attacking the weakest form of someone's argument is just discourse conducted in bad faith, and the internet has plenty of that already.

I swear, If I hear one more person yell 'but freedom of speech' or 'censure' on a private site I'll start screaming. The site has rules. You have to follow them if you want to post here. That's it. That simple. I've had a few posts removed and I never threw a tantrum over it. I was mad and I crossed the line set by the medium I'm using - meaning this site - and I accepted that they had every right to remove them. Now how about this, try reposing your thing without that faux impersonation part (it doesn't matter if it was sarcasm, part of a poem, or something entirely different, just leave it out) and see if it'll stick. I'll enjoy watching you eat crow when it stays.

Another copy-paste, hope it puts some light to this

this site is aggressive about removing posts that might be considered libelous. That means just about _any_ mention of individuals below the top 5 or so.
Good luck using obscenities and even some other words around here: f—, sh–, damn, a–, etc. The site’s software filters morph them to something less quotable.
The top 5 are probably considered “public figures” under US libel laws but even then they’re legally protected against misleading statements presented as factual. They are not, however, legally protected from harsh opinions.
Harsh opinions abound here.

Check this out, copy-paste from few months ago:

- Not company owned website, private, thousands of forums here;
- Has rules, they apply for all forums here,

not a big list , think this covers it:

- don’t make threats or impersonate others, don’t swear, insult others or use real people’s names (can name c-suits, not others), don’t talk politics or or ask for votes, don’t be a racist or a bully.

It was clearly a reference to a famous poem. If you didn't get it that's not the poster's fault.

OP, if I remember correctly your post had a sarcastic comment which started with “I’m Mrvin Almighty, the CEO of CEOs” or something like that, think that can be interpreted as impersonating.

Well our leader likes to score us against HD so from the Q4 / Fiscal 2019 releases (links at end of post) how did we do:

Lowe's vs Home Depot
Q4 Net earnings $509 million vs 2.5 billion
Fiscal Net earnings 4.28 billion vs 11.2 billion
Q4 Sales 16.0 billion vs 25.8 billion
Q4 comparable sales 2.5% vs 5.2% (total)/5.3% (US stores)
2019 annual sales 72.1 billion vs 110.2 billion
2018 annual sales 71.3 billion vs 108.2 billion

https://ir.homedepot.com/~/media/Files/H/HomeDepot-IR/reports-and-presentations/quarterly-earnings/2019-q4-pr.pdf

NOTE TO CORPORATE: perhaps next quarter the company's interests would be better served by focusing on STAYING IN STOCK instead of BUYING BACK STOCK. Still waiting on my appliance inventory to rebound which was one of the things HD specifically credited for their exceedingly strong Q4 results. It's not rocket science, you can't sell what you don't have and when your competitor is a short 5 minute drive down the street guess where your missed sales go?

About that. Revenues didn't meet Wall St projections, but they were up year over year. More importantly for his task masters, and the stock market, EPS (earnings per share) was .94, three cents higher than expected.

Excuse me, I wasn’t pretending to be anyone. I was posting a legitimate comment on the direction of this company, it’s leadership (or lack thereof) and the results of their decision making. It may have been mocking in tone, but there was nothing illegal, immoral or deceptive about it. That you or anyone else may not have liked my opinion is irrelevant. I violated no terms of service or use that I have read which is why I was asking the question. Why exactly was my post removed?

You have your opinion, I have mine but for reasons that STILL haven’t been made clear to me, mine get pulled down and yours don’t. That’s called bias and censorship. THAT’S what should be illegal.

Some of you are either simply uninformed or here to just bash the company. Outside of the one-time charge for closing unprofitable stores in Mexico and and a few in Canada, the stock earned .94/share which BEAT estimates. That tells me that the initiatives that the company are rolling out are WORKING.

I voluntarily left the company over two years ago because I knew that I no longer fit the mold that the company wanted me in or needed to be successful going forward in today’s retail environment, but I still follow the company because I am one of those ‘shareholders’ that are also constantly bashed on here. Reading this site from time to time it seems to me that a few of you that post nothing but negative comments on here all the time need to take a hard look in the mirror. IF you are that miserable, then leave! No one has a gun to your head forcing you to work for Lowe’s.

They do monitor this site. And they use the tracking cookies to identify you.

My store manager called me in and suggested I refrain from posting because it’s monitored.

That’s a fact! Not made up or embellished.

It doesn't matter if your post is positive or negative, don't post anything illegal and stick to the site rules and your post will stick. They are there for a reason. So how about actually reading the rules instead of whining every time the moderators pull down your post for rule violation?
Impersonating is not allowed, something to think about next time you wanna pretend to be Marvin or anyone else.

Some other things to think about: If you were the company big-wig, would you be happy your employees have a platform like this? Would you have your legal team monitoring it trying to find a way to take down that platform or at least find a loopholes to pull down certain posts?

Yes it is very strange how certain posts "go missing". Someone is taking an axe to selected posts Is it a corporate conspiracy? Don't know, but it is happening.
