Thread regarding 3M layoffs

What does good performance mean for us?

Can we expect a bit of peace and quiet? Better pay, benefits? My personal experience is whether the company is doing well or not, you as a worker are in peril anyway and will not reap the benefits but will always suffer the cost. I'm a newbie here and don’t know how it works in 3M. Based on previous experiences I can’t say I’m particularly optimistic that this changes anything for us.

Not time to celebrate yet! Once new products actually start to make it to market, organic sales significantly rise, and cost cutting isn’t the only focus….then we can celebrate.

Nope.

The sheeples at 3M will be flogged again soon until morale and productivity improves.

That's how it works irrrespective of who is in charge

Jan2025 is like forever from now, we’ll worry about that water after it’s under the bridge.

Why is everyone rushing to cut inventory by year end? What will happen from Jan2025 onwards? When business picks up will everyone asks for air freight? This is going to add significant costs

@1gbr+1tHxd3HE,

While likely not true for people hired in the last few years, I think you'll find plenty of ordinary employees bought stock through the ESPP, because historically it was a good deal with the 10% discount.

Then when the stock price tanked those employees were stuck holding shares that had significantly lost value and had to either sell at a loss or hang onto them and hope for the stock price to recover. For those ordinary employees who still hold 3M stock, whether a little or a lot, any bump in stock price is good news.

This stock surge is a temporary positioning for those selling large quantities before the storm … look it up on who is dropping shares. This is for the top end not the ones actually holding on to hope for a future with MMM

I work for a large plant, but personally I find it CRY WOLF.

On one hand we are being ask to report daily inventory to executive levels, and cut all operating costs. On the other hand, our share price surge by 23% upon last night results released.

So tell me. Who is to benefit?

I’d say you are definitely in uncharted waters. It used to be a stable place to work, but no one cares about that.
