Orlando Desk Sharing

It’s confirmed there are a few hundred more employees than there are available seats in Orlando, rumor has it they will be implementing desk sharing (gross). Has anyone else heard this rumor? Anyone in leadership here who can confirm?

Does anyone have updates on this? We still haven’t even been provided a desk location. Colleagues in other locations received their seating arrangements already.

If starting to feel sick (stuffy nose, scratchy throat) do they want you to come into work or sit that day out and work from home, or force you to use sick time?

@3chi+1pvKWhUv do you realize most people would take a severance rather than be forced to share space with someone?

And 5 day RTO doesn’t make any sense when they already don’t have enough seats.

In Westlake, we had to share desks before moving to the campus. We had our own headset, mouse, phone, keyboard. Had my own box of Clorox wipes and spent few min getting set up and having the work area sanitized every morning.

They will layoff excess people to match the number of desks!

Do all y’all downvoting @1gab+1pvKWhUv realize the alternative is either more layoffs or 5 day RTO?

How this is a big deal I have no idea. Former company had 2 people share a desk where you were 3 days 1 week then 2 the next. Your desk partner had same schedule opposite weeks.

Pretty common to economize on space and really not a big deal. The only thing there were 2 of was headsets - unsanitary to share those. You behave like an adult, wipe down the desk the week you have 3 days in and the thing is kept clean.

I am from On-site Services at Westlake and laid off. This was on the table at Westlake for RTO. They made the decision to move DFW2 back into the legacy TDA building. This is costing millions to do, I know they had to re-do the Network and set up over 1386 cubes. They could have left things the way they are until DFW4 was finished! Poor expensive decision!

OP here, yes a 50/50 split during the week. Definitely a lot of unnecessary drama. So this means that 3x a week will be implemented for some employees but not others? M, W, Th enforced for some employees while some other combination of 2 days will be enforced for others? That won’t create any resentment from the 3x a week employees at all 🙄 After almost 4 years at home they somehow want to convince us that going back to the office is better for us yet can’t even provide us with our own desk?

I can confirm. They have our entire team rotating days together and sharing desks. It's ridiculous and you'd think after a freaking pandemic they wouldn't resort to such chaos. Several on my team have already said they aren't sharing a cube.

I am sure you are talking a 50/50 split during the week, but I can help envisioning everyone doubled up at a desk gossiping and sharing snacks like we are back in grade school.

Would it be hoteling the desks on a reservation system or like paired up with a buddy to work out which days each person was coming in. (Co-parenting a desk)

Sounds like a lot of drama either way.
