Do those on top get a kick out of making us suffer? What is the point of announcing layoffs, telling us where and how many, and then NOT telling us who for weeks? Do they have any idea how much of completely unnecessary stress this is causing to everybody??? Just let us know!

I don’t have time or interest to address your false claims. Everyone know that BTC is useless. My colleagues are telling they won’t take BTC’s garbage service even for free.
You can go to that location with your family for ever. It will at least keep Alberta pollution free.
Growing pains. Offshoring will be much cheaper in the long run.
EMIT was the first to offshore. Issues galore in the beginning but when pay is 50% to 80% cheaper, they’ll find ways to make it work.

No one is leaving imperial I think, that is the reason they pipped people else it won't be necessary.
I think the cost is higher in the short term but once the things get settled and teething period is over, the things will stabilize probably. I find the Canadian regulators are completely impotent and orgs like imperial can get away with anything.
You are right. They are expensive than local consultant and contractors in the current market. Documents and deliverables from foreign cheap location are full of error, below quality and not acceptable by Canadian regulator. Be careful while authenticating those garbages. Don’t end yourself in Canadian prison by approving those sh–s only to continue your job at Imperial. Many folks are leaving Imperial due to that. However, Imperial Management and their puppet followers won’t acknowledge that. They will lie you and tell you the opposite as they eager to fill their pocket by year end bonuses and stocks.

But I heard that the foreign locations inspite of their low labour costs are still expensive because of the rework needed and subpar quality? Is that not correct?
EM and IOL could not care less about public opinion unless it impacts the bottom line or there’s a legit threat from activist shareholders. Don’t be naive.
They will continue replacing workforce in Canada and the US with cheap labour in Asia and South America and most consumers will neither know nor care as long as they can get cheap gas and most shareholders will applaud it for continuing to pay the dividends.

I think we shoud also find ways to make these layoffs publically known as well as offshoring going on. Imperial and ExxonMobil are very sensitive to public opposition and will not able to take the public criticism and will be forced to rethink. It will also remind fresh hires and potential applicants that imperial or ExxonMobil are not great places to work and best a avoided. Imperial will come to their senses soon I think.

You are absolutely correct. I am going to resign, let imperial sink. If they take us for granted, they will pay the price. If any people are licensed and reading this, I would report to the regulatory body to make sure imperial doesn't get away with its illegal bs, if they are not stopped right now at the very start, it will only encourage them. ExxonMobil thinks that they own us but they are wrong. This is a Canadian company not an ExxonMobil puppet.

That is how businesses have always been run. There are owners ag the top, with exec's, then managers and the bottom is labour. The managers and execs effectively own the company since they get to make decisions which will always be in their favour.

Because your leaders are unqualified. Almost all of the top executive are outsiders (Australian /US). They don’t belong to Alberta/ Canada. Why the heck all supervisors / Managers need to rotate? They consider company property belongs to their dad. Ignore these id–ts when they come to teach BPR, MPI and ethics. These clowns have no idea about the requirement of layoffs. Yes, they need million dollars profits, stocks even when they claim company is in loss state.

EMIT lied for months about the extent of the layoffs. They kept telling everyone their fears were unfounded...right up until they slashed 1/3 of the department. I don’t expect IOL to be any different.
What department? I only know of MPT positions.
I’ve watched 12 people I know get laid off in the last 3 days and we’re not supposed to know until the end of the month if it’s done. Myself and others I work with haven’t slept since the announcement and we’re working full shifts, gonna be lucky if nobody ends up dead by the time the month is done.
