I can understand being scared, I can respect that. But I know so many people who are actively and vocally opposing the very idea. Why? There is no way for things to become worse than they are for us right now. That's impossible. So what is it that you hate so much about the very idea?

I don’t care if you unionize or not. It’s just that you’ll never get it done. It’s a pipe dream.
@1fom+1caBTlM9 Implying someone isn’t smart because they work at Walmart really? A lot of workers have college degrees. You need to know what you are doing and it is a challenging job. Walmart workers are nowhere near d-mb.
By all means, be the one at your store to start union activities. Then when Walmart closes that store for remodeling or upgrading the electric, plumbing or water, you’ll be everyone’s favorite co-worker.
Jeez, I can’t believe how ignorant some people are. But, I guess if they were smarter, they wouldn’t be working for Walmart, eh?
Unions can be good if you've been there over 7 years. If your low man on the totem pole you are the first one benched and walking the pocket lines in front of businesses they hate. Also 90 percent of your dues go to the union bosses million dollar salary. The other 10 percent go in politicians pockets for bribes, uh I mean lobbying. They take care of themselves first and it works it's way down the ladder. I was afl-cio back in the 80's. I was making 4.50 per hour and the union bosses negotiated better benefits for longer tenured employees and cut the pay for anyone that has worked for less than 5 years. So I went from 4.50 per hour down to 4.00 per hour. I was 17 years old and about to graduate. I quit and have been against unions ever since because you pay them to negotiate for you. If you don't agree with them you're out of luck
Union are worse in regards to that old carrot and stick attitude.
The only separation is how much money they can take out of your pockets.
And of course unions like old timers to hang around that fattens their bottom line and they keep on dolling out more money from their paychecks.
@1tqk As opposed to right-to-work states, I mean fire-at-will states, where you can get fired for no reason whatsoever? A union would prevent these arbitrarily firings.
You were a stellar associate for the past 20 years? You now make too much money so we will give you a bad review to justify firing you. That cute new hire dismissed the SM's advancements so you'll lie about her late breaks. It's my word against hers. You hurt your back at work. Even though your doctor says you need 3 weeks off, the SM needs you back in the store now because he can't schedule properly so don't bother coming back.
Cr-p like this would stop with a union with that separation between management and the employee.
It depends on the union and union leadership. Some are better than others.
Unions are a cancer that's steals your money and offers very little in return.
Walmart uses scare tactics against it workers when it comes to unions but I can promise u life would be so much better if they did get unionized. Fair treatments, fair pay, no retaliation against its associates which Walmart is famous for. When 20 to 30 people can walk off a job and protest without harm that's powerful
