While I can't disagree with Allstate being ranked #1 along with State Farm, Farmers and Progressive up there, USAA is #10? Are you friggin kidding me? USAA is the best large carrier out there. I wish I could join, but being a parent of an active duty member doesn't count.
I had a red light accident with Progressive last year and they refused to accept liability because they hadn't spoke to their driver. This was after the police report with their driver statement admitting to running the red light, a statement from the independent witness and a copy of my dash cam video. I threaten to sue their insured in small claims court and file a DOI complaint if I didn't get an answer by the end of the day and they accepted liability 45 minutes later. And I thought, ge-z, what about the poor average Joe that doesn't understand how claims work.

"Allstate hired the New York consulting firm McKinsey & Company to design this shady program"

What, is this site now overrun with plaintiff attorneys? The McKinsey cr-p happened years ago, after the casualty redesign in the early 90s.

Try harder please...

You Are Not In Good Hands With Allstate.
In its ranking of the 10 worst insurance companies in America, the American Association for Justice determined that Allstate was the worst insurance company in America.

Allstate’s Shady Claims Handling Practices

Allstate is famous for shady practices that fail to protect its policyholders or cheat the policyholders themselves.

Delay, deny and defend claims. Allstate consistently and unreasonably delays paying claims to force its policyholders to give up, totally denies valid claims or offers a lower amount than what should actually be paid, and unfairly defends claims that should have simply been paid or settled.

Allstate’s program to cheat policyholders and boost its profits. This bad conduct is not by accident; instead, it is an intentional program by Allstate to increase its profits without considering the merits of a claim. Allstate hired the New York consulting firm McKinsey & Company to design this shady program.

Allstate adjusters are expected to lie to their customers. Allstate agents are trained to lie to customers and receive extra compensation when they reduce claims payment through these dishonest techniques.

The American Association of Justice is not the only group to discover Allstate's bad conduct. According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, more complaints are filed against Allstate than are filed against almost all of its major competitors. For example, Allstate received the largest fine in Maryland history for raising premiums and changing policy terms without notifying its customers. Here in Texas, Allstate agreed to pay more than $70 million in fines after insurance regulators discovered that the company was overcharging homeowners throughout the state. After Hurricane Katrina, Allstate improperly denied property insurance claims by residents of the Gulf Coast who lost everything.

This is meaningless... It is authored by a plaintiff firm from New Jersey.

@1njg+1cImHOCM I also don't get paid enough to afford the ridiculously high premiums allstate charges for their products

Who cares? Less than 5% of the people that participate in this forum have Allstate Insurance. They dont have any pride in this company to carry their insurance.

What once was the pride of Ailstate - "The best damn claim department in the land" - has been destroyed. Add to that alienated agents that can no longer trust the word-salad sp-t out of managers mouths on a daily basis. Then compound it with selfish adherence to policies and processes that do absolutely nothing to enhance the value of the people who slave away at this company every waking moment. That about sums it up.

Not shocking.

They laid people off, rehired them back at lower slave wages, all while claiming to be ‘transparent.’

Oh and don’t forget the average handle time when calls were a thing prior to chat. Chat was okay, but still going to outsource any front line jobs to Pune.

No surprise here. Just look at how they treat their employees . They laid off over 3,800 adjusters and other staff the days after Thanksgiving 2020 last year !

They may be ranked worst, but they are sure good at dragging out the process.

My girlfriend was injured in an accident with an allstate insured driver, who was the at fault driver. She has been involved in a years long legal process of getting them to pay out for her damages.

The following list contains the 11 WORST insurance companies in America:

  1. Allstate.

The AAJ list explains that even the CEO of this company admits that Allstate’s loyalty does not lie with its customers. CEO Thomas Wilson states that Allstate’s “obligation is to earn a return for our shareholders.” Documents they had to make public show that while they boast “good hands” in ads, they encourage their employees to fight against their own policyholders.

The AAJ says this of Allstate, “The company essentially uses a combination of lowball offers and hardball litigation.” To illustrate just how much money this company is making off its tactics, Wilson received more than $16,300,000 in compensation in 2019, while many injured claimants received far less than they deserved or nothing at all.

Allstate has also faced criticism for using highly confusing policy language that leads policyholders to believe they have certain coverage when, in reality, they receive a denial of their claims. Critics suggest that the company wants to collect premiums from policyholders who assume they have comprehensive coverage, only to have no recourse when disaster strikes.

All of this has earned Allstate the title of the worst insurance company.
