The crown jewelry of Cisco is its existing customer base. For the networking technology, I don't see any major innovation for the last 10 years. Even China Huawei can do better in that commodity area. The problem today in Cisco is lacking of the right talent pools in the fast growing area. Cisco has a lot of experts in switch & router , box based products but they are slow growing area. Cisco should let go some of the legacy experts and recruit the new kind experts in the fast growing area and find whatever way to keep them. Cisco should revisit its pools of PE and DE and identify which area to expand and shrink. Asking a PE of a legacy technology leader to drive new kind of software architecture is simply a disaster formula.

Everyone of the ELT can afford to take a $1 salary and no bonus / stock for one year. The working class that contributes to Cisco's success cannot. Everytime I see Chuck wear a golf polo for a club that costs $300k for a membership fee alone drives me insane.

@1fdl+16sfeLKK what on earth would Google want with Cisco? A bunch of disgruntled Enterprise customers fed on vaporware, powerpoint roadmap and ancient platforms built with a 1980s mindset?

If Cisco is bought one day it'll be by Oracle or someone like that in a pitiful fire sale to strip the assets and dump the c-ap.

That was just a gimmick, still took Millions in stock and bonus. His base salary was a very small part of his compensation package

It's not just about cost reduction, it's also about headcount reductions. Headcount reductions raise stock value.
