Alan Mulally tells a story about a Ford leader

I came across this video, go to the 17:30 minute mark and watch the exchange. Great story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1vI8yw8kQc

Does anyone know the names of the 3 LL1s that left during Alan's times?

Suggest you read the book "American Icon" about Mulally and behind the scenes with his tenure. Fascinating read if you were at Ford during that time.

@1fct+1rAQ9J3B - Thank you!

I'm guessing Don Leclair was the one referenced in the video. I've been in meetings with Don, he can very rough at times. I don't think it was Richard Parry-Jones. Richard had some health issues and wanted to retire and live few years.. Sadly he passed away 2021.

Wasn't there also a cousin of BF that left? I vaguely remember someone saying that he had no business being in that role, and Alan 'kindly' told BF to find his cousin another role outside of Ford.

Third one was Louise Goesser, Quality VP

Anne Belac who was first female president of a car company also left. She led Volvo

Heres' my guesses:

Richard Parry-Jones - left in 2007, a year after Mulally came aboard and left with 38 years with the company.

Don Leclair - left in 2008 with 32 years. There was a Reuter’s article called 'Ford friction led to Leclair's exit'.

The third one I'm not sure about. Both Charlie Holleran and Joe Laymon left within 2 years of Mulally's start and neither were long-time employees. Laymon left with a bit of controversy by announcing his thoughts of 6 Mulally succesors but he had a job offer from Chevron.

Alan Mulally is a businesses/engineer with patents who wanted Ford to have 6 vehicle programs and wanted to get rid of losing Lincoln division. He also noticed top arrogant designers/engineers who where set in there old thinking "lazy" patterns that fought against him.

The list of self serving who regurgitate the same talking point word salads on new direction of Ford only to enriched themselves as the company sinks. Golden spoon Billy only made one good decision when hiring Mulally who tried to change the lazy top heavy company but was over thrown by the weak minded.

Mark Fields
James Hackett
• Jim Farley - $20,996,146
• John Lawler - $8,956,211
• Bill Ford - $17,302,266
• Kumar Galhotra - $8,172,563
• Doug Field at $15,087,262

Let's see what happens at the end of the year into 2025 how brilliant these arrogant so called business thinking people works out....Lol

@OP, good story from Alan Mulally. I remember that one LL who was pushed out is the HR guy who told reporters, Ford had contingency plan if Alan left Ford, and after that was reported, he was forced out.
