Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Bias behavior

Since I am new in team have observed bias behavior from seniors towards new and old folks. The old folks are always late to complete work, late for almost month but hardly any reaction, no comments and I delayed work for 1day , it was not even due until a month but got to hear from seniors why so late, what is taking time. Feeling frustrated. Absolute no growth. They need to get rid of lazy ppl in company.

The comment about taking the subway is fine since those in the Ukraine are being bombed-is probably one.

Our leaders are as woke as you get. I call balderdash on the "inappropriate comments".

"Some officers there certainly make highly inappropriate comments, that's for certain."

Such as what?

Toxic place of inequitable workload and expectations. Poor performance is often rewarded with less work and lower expectations.

Millennial issues.
It boils down to you have not earned trust or respect yet, and that comes with time. The constant need for a pat on the back is just something I don't understand. The constant need for management approval is just weird to me. Just do the job, think on your feet, treat people fairly and it all works out. If not move on. That said, the company has an old mindset when it comes to the business model. They are falling behind because they refuse to adopt the new ways. As talent moves on to new ventures finding flexible arrangements, the void will be harder and harder to fill for the company until they realize it's time to move into the 21st century where location is of no consequence, but talent and results.

Leadership likes the lemmings and is threatened by anyone with a brain.

Is the problem bias treatment of old vs. new? Or the shift in corporate strategy and culture?

Or maybe both?

The workforce has changed. Majority of people out there are not graduating college, landing a dream job with a company where they climb the ladder and retire within the save company they started with. That is no longer the reality of American Dream.

Lifetime MetLifers should understand how very fortunate they are. And I can see the new workforce feeling that there is bias. Let’s face it, things have changed.

Creating culture is nothing more than a communication strategy centered around public relations. And measuring capacity is inconsistent.

There is a mix of outsourced and legacy so I can see culture and expectations being different (right or wrong). I believe it will level out as we see more retirements. Attrition largely from those who agree with bias treatment, inconsistent work from home policies, lack of growth, stagnant salary, and finally loss of respect for tone deaf leadership.

But I thought I could lol here, because you know, social media n' sh-t.

It's one thing to write in the acceptable format be it social media or professional, but it's another thing to make a clear point. I've seen posts elsewhere that were 25% or more just emoji that were more well written. Again, lots of complaining about the "olds" and no realistic self view.

You replied to concerns over bias behavior with a bias response. And at the same time told people who try to support not to coddle me. Ouch.

Wow, to critique writing skills on social media …Enter the generation gap.

The original poster may speak many languages. English may not be primary.

To suggest or even to assume that someone’s writing skills on social media compare to professional abilities and skill set is completely condescending & ignorant.

Communication 101- know your audience and channels.

And please do not coddle people while I behave like a complete jerk. Good message to send.

Leadership is definitely not good, but don't let people here coddle and mislead you. Step up and learn to write better. If your work product contains similar writing skills that you show here, that is a big issue for you to work on.

I understand how you feel. Sadly, I do not see this changing anytime soon.

And your writing skills do not matter.

Either you are a favorite or not. Period.

This company is currently run by a narrow minded, greedy, self-centered, corrupt leadership. Rules do not apply to them. Current Leadership can do whatever they want while they reward their faithful disciples largely without merit. I do know there are a lot of old who are paid well and coasting around here. Riding on relationships to stay on payroll for doing absolutely nothing. You can point all of this out, and you will be encouraged to complete surveys. But you will find over time that none of it will make a difference if they do not clean out leadership who linger.

Your choice whether to tolerate and accept reality or not.

Come here to vent and decide if you want to find a better job elsewhere seem to be the only options.

Ignore the emotionally troubled who troll here. These people are not worth even a moment of your time.

You sure they aren't just biased against people who have poor writing skills?
