Chances of this are very high. 80-90%. Outcome was not to relocate anyone from Houston to midland without a concho sponsor. I’m afraid the layoffs will be very large. Commenting from Houston

It will start with a few infusions of the COP foot soldiers. It will slowly increase with time and then you will get the safety folks coming and the extra support services people that you don't really need who are kept busy by a boss that takes a piggy bank and drops all the coins, asks them to pick it all up, then do it again and again. Before you know it, the Concho folks won't recognize their company and will start to leave once the retention bonuses are paid out. I went through this with COP. Eventually you are doing something and scratching your head asking yourself how is this making us any money? Good luck.
@1ehj+19jALJdK. I would happily move to Midland with the company.
Ever wonder why the same high SGL id–ts keep surviving layoff after layoff? They have a friend in high places. This "sponsor system" has existed on the ConocoPhillips side for many years. The days of objectively evaluating management and staff died long ago.
The heart of this company isn't about Diversity and Inclusion, it's about Similarity and Exclusion. Just look at the proliferation of "important" people with accents from the UK.
Cheers!
News Flash...No one wants to relocate Midland!! They would rather loose their job.
A sponsor is higher than just a supervisor/manager. A sponsor is someone who sponsors you.
Dumb question, but what exactly is meant by sponsor? A Concho supervisor/manager agreeing to take a COP employee onto their team?
No. It’s not lies or false. And you are correct. This has been baked for weeks. But sponsors being required is not new. Just new on this board.
Lies.
This is false.
The 600 heads to roll next week have been baked for few weeks now.
But good try on getting everyone rattled.
Go invest in doggy coins instead
- Concho intangibles meaning below average IQs
Heard the same. Conoco will be largely independent with only a very few infusions of CoP personnel. Expect L48 to get hammered hard.
I was coming to report the same comment. Seems like this may have legs.
It would be a prudent decision to let the operator with the better track record be in charge.
Wouldn’t be surprised by this. A big part of this transaction is leveraging Concho’s ability to operate like a true independent - not our sluggish and overpriced way of operating.
Would look for management to try and preserve the Concho intangibles as best as they can.
