The fact that they decide PIP % before the evaluation process starts indicates that need for improvement is not the driver.
Weaponized PIP system is a layoff.

@kam+1fzdk5Vj If you want to meet more often send a meeting invite for a 1:1. Some people don’t want to be micromanaged. I’m fine with two meetings a year.
@1lkz - that is very cute that you actually think that. If more people adopted a Pollyana view of the EM workplace it would be great. The PIP lists are "finalized" after the perfunctory ranking meetings have been held. Everyone knows that.
Since I move to new group end of last year, I realized that this week my supervisor started to give me “improvement” feedback more frequently. I guess I will PIPed this year hence it will he easier for him to communicate the results later
Nope. NSIs are decided during assessment meetings. Some supervisors may already have people in mind, but the discussion has to take place in the assessment meeting before HR’s wheels begin to turn.
Don’t worry about the PIP list, it was created last year, only had to add new people as ones on the PIP list quit.

My supervisor meets with me twice per year, one before and one after the ranking meeting.
I don't understand why people are downvoting Dirty Wrench Turner. It seems obvious that RE staff at Annandale are going to be targeted because: (1) at the very least, the R&D/Product Development organization has to meet the 8-10% PIP requirement; (2) RE employees are expensive; (3) interest rates are likely to soar; (4) the end of the R&D tax credit means that Annandale projects - and overheads - are going to be a lot more expensive; (5) the business will maintain reduced funding, at least until demand reaches pre-COVID levels (which will probably never happen for some product lines) - putting more pressure on reducing costs.
