Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike doesn't care about good performance at all

Nike has proven many many times that it does not care about good performance at all. You are welcome to work toward being highly successful but one of these scenarios happen :,
Your performance will be calibrated to successful or meet expectation on behalf of another a-s kisser
Your manager take credit for your job and secretly may hate you for outshine them
Your work is just lost or thrown away in the system and only causes frustration for yourself
Down the road, Wallstreet does care about how ELT has acted and ELT does not even care or understand what we are doing ....
So yeah please stop having the illusion that you can save Nike.... Save yourself

Bumping this from @uul+1twS6djf so more people could read it. The OP speaks the truth.

Or if you got downgraded in the reorg and have done a fantastic job on your previous level and now have the lower level title and only get a successfull?
Also had my boss tell me that we need to raise my bar. Aehm, no! You are buying me for a level lower, I will give you the work of a level lower.
The reorg said my job was not that high level, right?

@1knk+1txSFshq Agree but still being an actual HS and being down graded to S or being let go despite being HS ki-ls the morale

If Nike cared about performance the CEO and the President of Consumer, Product & Brand would have been fired long, long ago.

Why do you guys even care about performance reviews? Even if you get HS it doesn't mean anything. Got HS twice and it did nothing so far.

Nike is misguided by bad actors. For over 10 years the employee engagement survey results keep getting lower and lower. Where is their focus now? Making sure that skilled players focus or transition into understanding the company message over the skills of why they're at Nike.

Nike deals with sports so let's create an analogy of how this plays out. If you have a basketball team. You draft/recruit/trade for the best 3 point sho-ter. Why? Because you need a good 3 point sho-ter. Then you focus on this 3 point sho-ter's skills in PR instead of their ability to make 3 point shots. You compare this person to other PR persons. They might not be the best PR person. That's not why you got this athlete, but you moved the goalpost instead of celebrate what their value is. What was important about having this athelete on our team? It's no longer about performance. It's something else. What does this show employees? Performance doesn't matter. Who gains in this type of environment? People that do not need to be performers. What kind of competition does this create? It creates a rat race.

What does this do to an organization? This starts us focusing on things that don't make us win. What does it do to our values? We focus on things that doesn't bring us enough value to a team's ability to win. We stop focusing on things that make the team overall perform better. That is what Nike is now. A team that's more focused on global recognition over winning. Who gains in this type of environment? Loser non-performers.

Look around you. Who's moving up? People busy trying to get into the ear of new leaders. Look what groups are most impacted? Work horses - Teammates who put their head down to make things happen. Scrutinized by the busy people who have 'good ideas' that never made anyting work themselves.

The saddest part of this story is this. Our new (and a lot of our existing) leaders su-k. If your leader needs you to tell them why you're great, that means they don't know what greatness means. They should already know. They should be evaluating, weight and measuring the people that they're already responsible for evaluating. If they need to be convinced, that means that their values can be compromised. What else does that mean? It means that your value can be compromised by others.

CP, the least technical person on the planet inserting himself between tech and innovation is a big part of the problem. How is he still there, let alone an SD?!?!

Innovation at Nike needs rehabilitation. How about start by letting go MN? The con artist who does not support talents but recognize them as threat and manage them out.... He let go of great talents just to replace them with his buddies and yes man characters.. Every tried to pitch any new idea to him? It is immediately shut down by him! Ever tried to advise him on how to save cost and use efficient approaches to get things done? He immediately begins his process to manage you out... Kick this con artist out and Nike begin innovating again

Innovation leadership is lacking....so, innovation is lacking.
The NSRL leadership team is completely inept and stale-they've managed to cut valuable people with great ideas just in time for their need.

One of the reason that has been cited for decline in sale is lack of innovation. Just look at all the articles...
What did Nike do to address this? They started cutting people from Innovation, fron NSRL and they let go of innovate researchers! They kept the slackers, the loud ones, the directors whose only job is to match their nail polish to the swoosh color 🙄 They let go of our innovators.... stock is going downhill... Now some id--ts have the illusion that by working harder they are going to bump the stock price of a multi billion dollar company ... That they can save this mess single handedly... Pure illusion when none of us, not even senior director have any real power to make any changes... Corporate greed brought us here... Did JD reduce his multi million dollar compensations? Did any of LT accepted any responsibility by getting a paycut? It is disgusting how some people are so brain washed instead of looking after their own best interest and their family's best interest, they are looking after Nike best interests! Keep putting more work into Nike. It means nothing to LT,JD or Wallstreet
