I volunteer as furlough tribute! Normal unemployment plus $600 a week plus not dying... Sounds significantly better than working in this death trap. Do you even work for Lowe's?

For those not paying attention it is a forced day off with absolutely no compensation. There was no offer made at my store to change days off, not that I appreciate it when someone completely changes my schedule with only a few days notice. My store also has close to three dozen employees out, some with covid19 type symptoms and waiting for test results. At this point I can't risk spending Easter with my elderly parents as I am assuming that I may be asymptomatic after being exposed to thousands of customers at Lowe's during the last month alone. It took an employee death to get this company to even remotely start pretending like they actually give a rats a– about the employees. This is nothing more than a PR stunt and they certainly don't deserve a humanitarian award for doing so. Kind of like them announcing to the media that they would be providing PPE to the employees and then failing to provide a date when they would actually do so.

Are you people crazy? Sales=payroll. We go curbside and essentials only, they will furlough 75% of the employees like Best Buy did. Is that what you guys really want? Hell if you are miserable and worried about your health. Just quit. Drive for uber eats, door dash.... Lowes needs us but we need Lowes as well.

Further limit our operating hours. Curbside pickup and purchase of essential items only. Cancellation of all advertisements and flyers indefinitely. Paid time off for associates to use whenever they'd like. Indefinite extension of that time off as unpaid if the employee desires it. Full PPE for all employees. Suspension of executive bonuses. Payrate increase and bonuses regularly for working during hazardous conditions. Mandatory social distancing for all employees at all possible times. Company increasing their contributions to health care premiums (employee pays less) and increase matching rate for 401K by 150% of current maximum or more. Make employee food bank official and expand it greatly. Eliminate need to take lunches and offer employees to work 1+ fewer hours as compensation. Set up fans to keep air circulating to stop microdroplets from exhalation staying in the air for hours at a time. Free stock options to all employees prorated for hours worked. Suspend returns while instituting a grace period to match the time it's closed for. Reduce cycle counts and daily inventory as much as possible.

I mean, you really can't think of a single thing you'd like to be done differently? You've either gone full Jim Jones or you have a very weak imagination.

So what would the negative associates put forward as a better plan? How would you lead at this time. It’s easy to sit back and complain. It’s much more difficult to lead and come up with real solutions.

Easter Sunday is historically Lowes' worst sales day of the year. With the pandemic, sales would be even worse. Marv knew keeping the stores open was going to cost him more than closing them. Add the good press he is getting, and this is really a no brainer for him. Don't treat him like as some kind of religious martyr. He would sell out God, Country, Lowes, employees, family, anything for a stock bump. He is not paying the employees for this day. That tells you all you need to know.

It's not a paid day off. It's a day without work, however the hours get replaced another day so your hours aren't affected.

Lets find a reason to complain about a paid day off.

Yeah, when twice as many customers will stampede into the stores this Saturday, knowing the stores will be closed on Sunday.... Corporate claims they continue to 'listen to customer and associate feedback?!" If THAT were true they would have been closing at 6 pm, putting strict limits on a small number of customers allowed in a store, at the same time, they would have closed off all of the departments not considered 'Essential,' like Flooring, Paint, Outside Garden, Seasonal, most of Lumber, Cabinets, etc....or would have only done online ordering/curbside pickup.... They picked a day when much fewer customers come in and when there is only a 'skeleton' crew to begin with....Lowe's hardworking employees deserve this entire weekend off, WITH pay. For stores to be closed on Sunday is ONLY about trying to keep up good P.R. and has NOTHING to do with employees.
