Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I envy my former coworkers

Three people have left in the last six months on their own. All three were able to find new jobs despite the pandemic and I haven't been so lucky. I've been trying and trying for over a year and no luck. I'm now at the point where I'll take a significantly lower pay if it comes with job security just to get out of this place.

I retired from xerox after 35 years as a CSE. I took a huge pay cut but I couldn’t be happier. No more micro management no more being on call nights and weekends without getting paid. No more mandatory overtime then being made to take comp time no more having to lie to customers about all the poor decisions and cost cutting xerox has done. No more having to deal with poor 3rd world made parts because xerox does not want to pay Fuji for authentic parts. No more having a manager who never held a screwdriver second guessing your repair decisions. The list goes on.

I took a slight bump in pay when I left. I had to buy my own car (turned in the Xerox Deathmobile) which lowered my net. The benefits were much better. I'm sure within a year I'll be making more per year compared to a salary Xerox would pay me at the end of the next five years(The same or lower).

If you are on the Xerox benefits plan, pretty much anywhere you go will have a cheaper plan still high deductible but little or no premiums. So you can take a slightly lower income and make it up with cheaper benys. That's what I did a year ago and I love being out.

Everyone keeps mentioning the collapse of Xerox but give me hard facts. I was speaking wy a counterpart at Ricoh, they are suffering also.

Last Posters comments are bang on. If you stay at X and it’s brand completely collapses, it will be so much worse for yourself in terms of marketing. I left last year and having Xerox on my resume got me a lot of interviews & interest. Be smart. Do the right thing. Leave that sinking ship.

Also need to take into account how xerox’s ultimate demise is going to hurt your personal brand. Fair or not, perception will be the ones last to go are the dregs of the x barrel. Progressive companies are n’t lining up for laggard employees who’ve lived through a toxic environment and potentially polluting their culture with your kind of baggage... Take a page from your former CFO. Cobble up a good success story, find something better, and get the he!! out of there... the clock is ticking and you’ve got an amazing life that deserves better!
