Has anyone found the thread on Blind describing “known” detail?

Most teams are bloated with useless employees and managers but this wont affect the decision on whether someone is laid off.

Layoffs will mostly be political, it will fall down to which team you are on and whether the new management structures care about you.

Expect to find out in 2 weeks to a month

My guess is 5% will be cut.

Most 50ish oldies do much more meaningful work than many indies just seeking visibility.

Given the history of layoffs with NetApp, who will go first? Oldies or Newbies? NetApp has a lot oldies (above 50) just milking salary doing cr-p work.

Since you’re looking for specifics, there is discussion on this on Blind, and several people who claim to have knowledge said end of January. No info on scope or groups affected.

I feel you though, my friend. It gets my anxiety up if I think about it and it makes it hard to focus on work. If you do get let go, just focus on moving forward and finding that next job.

As a recent netapp aqui-hire I've dug back through the posts here and it's quite CLEAR there are haters here causing trouble. Yeah the stock price is weak, insiders are selling and naive cloud revenue targets where not hit, but from where I'm sitting it's really fine and there are no fires burning. The interest rate environment will swing back around and its not like we went covid-mad and expanded unreasonably through the pandemic, like alot of other layoff effected companies.

Why worry? If you pay attention to the macro and to the company, you probably have known or suspected a layoff is coming for at least a few months. Instead of worrying and spending that mental energy in a negative way, why don't you try taking some tangible steps to ensure you can easily step into another role?

Things like: updating your resume, reviewing common interview questions, building up an emergency fund, applying elsewhere, etc. There are tangible steps you can take to make transitioning to another role in the company or elsewhere easier.

Whether we like it or not, layoffs are a part of this industry. You should incorporate periodically updating your resume and sharpening your interview skills as part of your job. Whether it's daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc. Doing this also helps you accurately track personal and career growth more intentionally without losing context.

All I'm saying is that worrying about it won't help you. However, doing the things that I've mentioned will.
