Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Job shouldn't come with so much stress

Sadly, there's nothing about this company that's not stressful. Constant layoffs? Check. Toxic work environment? Check. Managers who think bullying is a valid management style? Check. Practically unattainable goals? Check. I'm surprised more people who work here are not medicating for high blood pressure and anxiety...

@1ovy...Not sure why manual labor would be some sort of qualifier to work at State Farm. It’s not like there are a lot of physically demanding jobs here, and it’s not like that’s what people are looking for if they come here.

Most of the leaders love at the local country clubs and retired ones work for the same contract consulting cos now insurance is now. The same money and systems and everyone is in each other’s pockets and married to each other or friends

Systems and procedural deceit is easy that way.
If you not in the circle your a peasant

It’s hard to watch.

Well state farm hasn't laid anyone off, so not sure why that's stressful. Work environment was toxic in office but much better from home. Also metrics I get why they do it, there are so many people at this company who really shouldn't be getting pay for how little they do, and how much rework they create for others.

Ive been through a few companies, State Farm is not even close to the most stressful.

Let me ask you how you enjoy getting paid by the hour, and being able to go home after 7.75hrs? Most claim handlers leave when their work is done. Were lucky in this aspect.

I dont think any CA level employee could complain about metrics, just showing up and going through the motions you can hit those metrics...but I understand they have a very, very low bar for new hires so maybe working while punched in is a new concept for some.

CS level work I can see stresses increasing as attrition likely has a lot of others work being dumped into their queue....however they dont have to deal with no life/work balance with a salary and expectation you stay until your work is done.

Claim Adjuster is one of the worst professions you could have. State Farm is bad, but not bad compared to others in the industry, just awkwardly mediocre for a company that brags about their legacy status that it lets slip with every new bonehead money saving idea. Just remember its bad because your a claim adjuster, no company wants more of you, they would rather an app do your work.

@1tpu, in total agreement. It takes a long time to get your head on straight after the leaving the daily mental anguish of State Farm. Unless you've worked there, it's hard to explain to people. I still have nightmares...

Just remember folks, most of the people at State Farm are very very toxic. They are paper pushers who have never done a full day of manual labor in their life. Look at their hands. Their hands look like they were just born. Heck, they'd even whine if they had to go outside (too hot/too cold). Leadership are spoiled brats who are first in line to party, but to do the work to prepare for the party they are nowhere to be found! Then, while at the party they complain about the work. That's the stressor. Until you get rid of lower level and upper level management to care about the people that make the ship go, it will continue to be a cluster...

Remember, behind all those "pretty boys and girls" is a very dark and evil world. Their image and what they say is the work of evil. Infidelity, alcoholism, dr-g abuse, and deceiving lies are their game. Be at peace knowing you recognize evil.

@1dad OMG, are you me? I actually used to do this to cope. I would swing by the store on the way home from work, and get a bottle of wine or something, and DRINK IT ALL. I crashed and burned after a while though. I recommend you take care of yourself before you derail. Now I have to take several prescription medications to "be normal". The medications might as well be called FUKITOL.

I drink 12 beers a night, start at 5:30 and finish about 9:30....pass out and start over the next day. Only way to make it through the week. I used to run and eat healthy but over time I’ve just caved!

You better check. Many are on Adderall, Xanax, lithium, Prozac, etc. Many many have substance abuse issues. Sad but true.
