What is the problem? Are you too busy to ask you own question? I am sure EM employees are highly intelligent, responsible and thoughtful individuals. They are busy 100% of the time delivering on their commitments and taking care of their colleagues. This sounds like such a minute and pity problem, it is embarrassing to see complaints about it.

The issue is they removed the ability to see each other’s questions and vote on them. Slido is a great way to identify the top questions, read them word for word, amd respond directly. Our management continues to take the approach of summarizing “themes” from the questions and then answering softball variations rather than exactly what was asked. Even worse though is current tactic which doesn’t even allow voting or ability to view all questions.

What is the issue? The slido is still open, just type in the question you want or raise your hand in the room. Stop whining and walk the talk.

They will pick which ones they want to answer but defer to questions from the audience - hand-selected people with questions they “plant” ahead of time. I had a friend in Planning who told me this was common practice. Your real questions will never be answered.

@1rov+1dbd85cr You are wrong. They will not be transparent. They will not show us which assets are for sale. They will not show us the US headcount forecast. They will not admit there is no future staying with this company.

I think we're all getting carried away. The questions will get answered...of course we may not like the answers. He may not be liked, but he's not completely stupid, and is obviously briefed on the current issues/concerns.

The reason they were taken down is that they didn't want us to see the voting, through fear everyone will know what everyone already knows; we have deep issues that are still not understood by Dallas.

Taking them down has probably helped Dallas understand, more than ever, that they have completely mis-judged the situation. Look at all the free publicity here, and on Zoom.

I see this as ill-judged, but ultimately beneficial in getting the message to Dallas.

I dont see any questions been posted since last night's deletion. Is it because no one has submitted one OR we are only able to see the ones we have submitted?

We value every question and will answer every single one because our employees are our most valued asset and we are ExxonMobil. Darren and all the leadership engages often in candid and frank dialog with their coworkers every time they are out of the bubble.
Please continue to provide us with feedback in the receptacles and suggestion boxes we have placed all around our facilities marked by the words: Trash, Garbage, or even Recycle Bin ♻️

@1eqg+1dbd85cr Nobody is saying what EM management is doing is illegal. It's simply bad, in the way communism is bad. Nothing to do with the First or any Amendment.

@1cii Nice red-baiting there.

People need to understand what speech the First Amendment actually protects. Reading the text of the Bill of Rights and judicial opinions surrounding applicable court cases are left as an exercise, but to summarize, the First Amendment (a.k.a. “Free Speech”) doesn’t apply to your Slido questions. XOM can delete them, reject them, or fire you for asking them.

It’s a red-hot job market right now. If you don’t like XOM, turn in your badge and walk out. Nobody who has left O&G regrets it.

@1akg+1dbd85cr You jest but EM culture bears a striking resemblance to Soviet Russia.

Cut the phone lines. Contain the spread of misinformation. That is how you keep the people from undermining the fruits of their own labour. That is how your names

become inscribed in the hallways of the Kremlin. .... Yes, comrades. We will all be rewarded for what we do here tonight. This is our moment ... to shine.

Witness as corporate minions try their best to downvote this post. It was positive at 10 pm and was suddenly flooded with downvotes. The truth is laid bare. DW is a coward and P&GA are disgusting sycophants.

So sad that they thought the best response to situation was to delete the questions. Whoever made that decision should be PIPd. They have singlehandedly significantly eroded what little trust was left. The emperor has no clothes. No denying it now. Sad really.

I left at the end of 2020 on my own terms...did they 1) really allow Sli.do questions from other to be seen by others and 2) actually think it was smart to just delete them?

From what I remember, these forums allowed anyone to ask a question through Sli.do under the guise it was "submitted" but never actually did anything with it.

Man this culture is even worse than when I left! (UOG Geologist).

Why would they do something like this? This only hurts the relationship even further. Better to take on the tough questions (or ignore them if they want) but they should have never deleted them like this. It almost seems like supression

Some nimwit with a useless title like Culture Transformation Manager or Public Affairs Coordinator or even Upstream Conference Manager will be tasked with asking “tough questions” massaged to be harmless.
They will claim they only “summarized” a bunch of questions, after they censored and ran them through the wash (not the greenwash, the other machine that spits out the cr-p managers want to hear).
Then Darren will compliment himself on facing the brutal truths and parking his jet to be on time (not like last time).
And don’t forget, he won the Board vote - Engine 1 was an actual win.

These were the top voted questions when I pulled the sildo up at lunch:

  • We continue to see massive amounts of attrition from our company to the point that Reuters is writing articles about how our Cube is now an internet meme. That personally makes me sad. What are your personal feelings about this and what is the Corporation doing to improve culture and retention?
  • Do we have a strategy how to address the low morale/high attrition situation other than resuming raises/promotions and 401K matching?
  • It is great to see we are making money again as a corporation. With that in mind will employees see raises effective 1/1/22? Will it include a cost of living for 2021 and 2022 plus our merit raise for 2022? If not please advise what is preventing this from being the expectation?

*Historically the company has placed an emphasis on valuing the employee. This paradigm has recently changed. Any plans to return to valuing the people who work for the corporation?

*On the surface, it appears our new board members bring industry-relevant experience and backgrounds that can help guide ExxonMobil towards realizing our dual challenge goals. Why did we oppose their nomination so vigorously?

  • Per Bloomberg (ittps://www.bloomberg.com/newe/articles/2021-06-21/erzon-prepareo-to-cull-I'senhine-collear-renke-by-as-much-as-10); We plan on cutting headcount by 5% - 10% using NSI for the next 5 years, is this still the plan in the face of moral destruction and high and increasing attrition?
  • ExxonMobil has maintained a firm stance against 9/80 type schedules despite it appearing to be a painless way to boost morale and combat attrition. We often talk about benchmarking but many other companies who have this perform as well or better than us. Can you give reasons why we are against this?

The anonymous slido question was turned off so people had to be brave enough to post questions that would be seen by 1,000 of employees. I would like to thank everyone who was brave enough to to ask the difficult questions.

Dallas thought this approach would limit challenging questions but after 4 hours almost every one of the 40 questions was a HR / attrition / culture / compensation question. It clearly annoyed the P&GA minions enough for them to hide/delete. I personally watched each and every question disappear as I had them on my second monitor.

This is the most depressing action I have ever seen from senior management…..the head of the snake needs cutting off. DW is a threat to EM, shareholders should be informed so the board can set up a vote of no confidence.

Wow I didnt believe it when I saw this post's title at first.

This is serious. It reveals something deep here.

It seems as though Corporate Dallas was not actually expecting that line of questioning ... as if they were caught by surprise. It suggests they were out of touch with reality and perhaps they have now just realized it now?

If they were really expecting this line of questioning (as they should, it was obvious people were gonna ask thisn stuff), they would have had set the slido with the "hide questions" settings from the start.

They were caught by surprise, they are indeed out of touch with Houston.

Routers have a continuation on what they have post couple days ago….besides the exodus that Exxon is facing but also the cowardly CEO this company have.

How embarrassing is all this!!!!

DW must have learn with Joe Biden and is not brave to face challenges and the employees.

How can you see future for a place like this????

@rgz+1dbd85cr That’s incorrect. I just watched as the deleted all of the questions. There were several questions with 500+ votes. P&GA didn’t like the theme of the questions and deleted them. DW is such a coward. Bottom line, we are facing unprecedented attrition and he can’t face the facts. This company is doomed.

Technically they are not deleted. You can only see the question you asked. But yeah, it’s the way to keep everyone from seeing the questions and only answering the questions they want to
