I don’t know if the problem is that the hiring process is too slow or if people are generally not interested in working at EM, but the fact is that a lot of people are missing so workplace efficiency is taking a downturn. The question is can this company deal with understaffing problems more effectively?

Spoke with a great mechanical engineer that would have been a great asset. He said there’s no way he would come to work at EM. He has heard from friends and existing engineers as well as special purpose machinery guys that it’s a dumpster fire. Sad part is the potential candidate was spot on when he told me that.
For more information around this, just glance over our Glassdoor rating. Anyone interested in joining takes one look at that and realizes what a misstep it would be to come here. Cultured needs to be fixed before we can start attracting people here again.
@1hib - unfortunately, my experience suggests that this is the normal practice for most companies. If you didn't make the cut, you just don't hear from them at all.
So I might be one of the few still wanting to get into EM. Did my first interview via zoom and now have been ghosted - no news whatsoever even though hiring mgr said i will hear back within a week. Is it normal for EM not letting the candidates that they spoke with that they didnt get the second interview? Thanks!
@1cid+1gLH4eep Dude, you nailed it.
@1cid What's the problem with overweight fake blondes. All of the ones I met could suck the numbers clean off a credit card.
@1cid+1gLH4eep That’s right. It is plain NASTY.
But! A big BUT! It is a place that we can play the game and be rewarded for doing absolute nothing. Use the time well my fellow colleagues!

For starters, word has gotten around that EM treats their employees like garbage. The PIP is the talk of the town, as is the crescendo of applicants from EM to practically every company in greater Houston. Obviously, something is wrong over there.
Another problem is the recruiting process. EM is openly asking for candidates ages on the job applications, which means they’re screening for specific age groups. The work locations are terrible: Baytown (swamp, rednecks), Louisiana (swamp, ghetto, rednecks), and Houston (swamp, ghetto, rednecks, overweight fake blondes, strip malls, fast food, more strip malls,…).
An unstable job in a stagnant industry with a toxic environment, below market pay, and lousy locations…
Is anyone still wondering why people don’t want to work there?
Who is training the new staff? So much knowledge is leaving. It is sad to see but I understand each of us is doing what is best for him or her.
BTC continues to recruit and hire by the hundreds, let that one sink in..
Is anyone here involved in campus recruiting? I've only been with the company for 5 years, but I remember half-hour lines just to talk to ExxonMobil recruiters at the university job fair. Is that still the case anywhere, or has our reputation dropped off a cliff recently?
The new “Normal”.
More work spread across fewer employees? It's not a bug, it's a feature!
General decline in interest from desirable graduates, as well as a limit on numbers due to lack of people to train them up
