Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Guaging interest in unionizing.

Hello. For the past year or so I have talked to my colleagues in my department about unionizing so that we can get fair compensation and raises in a timely manner. We would also like to remove the looming cloud of layoffs every year and just focus on providing for ourselves and families amidst inflation.

Most of my Department is on board in terms of unionizing. I would just need input from other employees in the comments. Just let me know what shift you are on (A B C D E) and whether or not you would be interested in unionizing and what changes you would like to see here at Global that a union can help with.

I'm tired of waiting for management to make changes or hoping for improvement. I do not want to keep moving from company to company to make ends meet. I would like to stay in one place until retirement age so I can plan my life out accordingly. And I want other employees here to have hope again as well.

IBM is a 00+ year old company, Unionizing was attempted but not successful. you now have those same IBM managers running globalfoundries,. Look what happened to IBM semi without a union, what ended IBM was the constant layoffs of good engineers who went to TSMC. The rest is history

It’s needed and it’s needed for a long time now. Time to do it is now. Not during next layoff when everyone is scrambling

Union busters go through great lengths to disrupt people from forming unions. Just look at the comments.
Every single time unionization gets mentioned on the Layoff for GF, you'll see down votes, hissing, and other tactics thrown around in the comments that try to persuade people otherwise.
There's no one with the backbone at GF to form a union since I started in 2011. Every time it flies over like a brick.
Labor Day we thank union members for being the backbone for building this country.
To those against unions: Go right ahead by supporting going against the best interests of the American workers with your own anti-American rhetoric about unionization in this country.
Some people are that ignorant, and don't see Union Busting in action. It's a real thing. Research it.

Workers form Unions only when they are really needed.

If GF workers really needed a union, we would have one.
If there is no Union, the we really don't need one.

(And we don't waste our time downvoting at our HR meetings...)

Lots want it. Be warned, HR in Malta actively monitors this website. I've been in the meetings where this site is discussed. You will be kicking a bees nest. And ALL further posts mentioning unionizing will be downvoted and spammed with comments from paid employees.
