Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

WARN Act

If WARN act wasn’t triggered that means less than 50 US employees were laid off.

Did people forget there was a merger/bought out During a merger/bought out, companies may choose to lay off a few employees because there might be duplicate positions within the branch or organization. So if it’s really under 50 people of like 7,500…. This really is a “few” people
Not even a full 1%
Get over it and stop freaking out

So some in Aviation and some in Govt. guess the plan is to keep this batch of USA layoffs below 50.

Don’t listen all the noise from former employees or rival companies that just want to bring the morale down. Viasat didn’t wish for all our parties to be laid off, unfortunately that was the result Viasat had to do it in an effort to reduce costs and to restructure Viasat’s business model. However Viasat still treated them with the respect and dignity they deserve, plus the company knows that they can count on our support in doing the same, so don’t listen to all those Trolls!
Viasat will be back on top once more! No matter what happens, keep getting back up. For every time you get back up, the fall makes you stronger and thrusts you to a new level. Whatever you might be facing. In the end, what matters is how quickly you get back up and take your power back.

Because it's complete BS.

It's just a bunch of disgruntled trolls who got laid off a long time ago and have no idea what's going on in the company now. They are posting nonsense and fiction.

I work with multiple teams in the company, and morale is pretty high. Everyone is hard working and dedicated to their jobs. I check Slack at midnight before bed, and so many people still have a green dot next to their name. I get late night emails from Git from people submitting code late. People are handling on call duties on the weekend. Some are even doing it while on vacation, while on maternity and paternity leave, and I've even seen it from a few people who were supposed to be retired.

I don't know anyone who is worried about layoffs. No one is leaving, and, in fact, the company has started hiring again. Of course that doesn't mean there won't be some low performers or people in business units that are no longer a priority let go here and there. But at many recent all hands, not just with Guru and Mark, but with other leaders too, there is a strong sense of optimism and a feeling that the company is moving in the right direction. It's not fake, it is a sentiment shared amongst many people I've talked with.

Look at the company's press releases. New deals and contracts are being announced on a regular basis. There are several other reasons, that cannot be named, to be positive about the future of this company. All I can say is that I have maxxed out my ESPP and cannot believe my good fortune to be acquiring shares at ridiculously low prices.
